1200d Focus speed question

I hope to shortly be getting back into my Birding pastime, after having sold my 500d body some time ago, I don't want to spent too much money at the moment to get going again, so my question is:- has any body go views or experience as to whether or not the 1200d would be as fast as the old 500d or even the 550d Your advise would be much appreciated

Hi,

Specs. wise I would lean more towards the Canon 100D, I dont know your locality but in the UK the 100D is only £56 pounds more expensive than the 1200D and is better equipped all round, link below for a head to head with 100D v 1200D

FPS the 1200D is slower than the 550D or the 100D 3FPS v 4FPS

Re: 1200d Focus speed question

Hi Mocha. Thanks for your thought's and yes you have a good point re the 100d That would appear to be a better option although  'used' ones are a bit thin on the ground here,'in the UK' I was hoping someone who may have had one of these bodies would throw their 2p worth in. I know what the 500d could do focus-speed wise, and I just didn't want to get a later model then find I had made a mistake.

I would stay away from the nn00D models on principle (too crippled for not enough saving IMO). If you're thinking second-hand, consider the 60D. Think of it as a 600D (which has the upgraded AF) with a bigger buffer and viewfinder, both of which you'll really appreciate for birding, for not much more than the cost of a new 100D.
