NX500 10mm 4K = 14mm photo

4K with NX500 is "cropped" - 10mm is aequivalent to 14mm in photo modus

This is very interesting, thank you for posting. Wonder how pronounced the fish eye effect is in this crop...

I have few video samples, I didn't shoot video before at all, just pressed red button and that's all So don't ctiticize too much

Both taken with 10 fisheye + NX500 @ 4K.

Wow, this is much better than I expected, there is maybe 5% distortion, completely correctable in post (and not unexpected for ~21mm efl).

Thank you.

P. S. Oh man, I thought I was done with buying nx lenses... And 10mm is not cheap... Oh well.

That must have been a very funny day! Is this with the Samsung fisheye? Did you do any de-fishing on post, or that is the raw footage?
Actually is really good. I just ordered the NX fisheye for the 500 4K crop, and because I love the fish eye effect, when it is needed!

We not all live in Switzerland or Turkey you know, or be able to buy from Samsungparts, some of us have to pay real prices for our equipment.

Yeah, it was my first "outdoor test" for NX500. Both photos and videos were amazing! I miss that sensor now, but...

Video was taken with Samsung NX 10mm f/3.5 fisheye. No post, no defishing. Just in-camera setting for +1 saturation from standart, IIRC, if it affects video. Converted with RMMC.

No, it is out of camera, only converted from H265 to H264.

NX500 on BeholderMS1. Cold weather +1° C

Astonishing 10mm 4K video = 14mm photo.

It is incredible that the 10mm fish eye becomes almost an ultra wide lens with the 4K crop. It seems like it is a must lens for this particular reason, and is cheap (for a fish eye), small and sharp for general use.
I didn't like the motion of the Beholder much. Have you set it right? I am wondering if a Beholder,+NX1 DIS has a much better stabilization.

This interested me very much, because I have NX500 and I will get Samsung NX 10mm fish-eye soon.

I also ordered cheap "ebay" 0.45X Wide Angle converter for NX 16-50 kit zoom, and hope that's good enough for 4K videos with kit lens...

regards,

Ari

Re: Thank you, this is interesting...

I was thinking the same thing (0.45x for video - it's actually ~0.7x focal length). I know it's mostly useless for photos as when you crop out degraded parts you mostly get the same FoV as with the original lens, but that's exactly what we want here

Please do report back with your experience.

Yep, I will report back. I have pretty high expectations in this regard - there is a good chance that it is good enough for 4K videos...

cheers,

Ari

Did you buy 0.45X Wide Angle converter? How it works in 4k?
