E-M10 Mark II: Time Lapse problems

One big problem I've noticed in time lapse photography: the display doesn't switch off between shots. I can take less than 150 photos and the battery is empty. E.G. 2 min intervals. It would save hugely energy if 'sleeping' between shots (like E-PM2). Any solution? Maybe a new firmware is coming? Thanks (and sorry for my bad English).

Re: Check your sleep time setting

I don't have an Oly camera, so I can't help you much on how, but try reducing you default sleep time to 1 minute (or less). This thread shows an E-M10 sleeping after one minute: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55034398 in time lapse mode.

Re: Check your sleep time setting

Thanks a'lot for this link! I noticed that with 60 sec intervals, the max. number of exposures is ab. 150. So, let's wait for a new firmware so that the 'sleeping' begins let's say after 2-3 sec from each exposure. Now I'm sure i don't have done anything wrong.

Yeah, Olympus, hear that? Panasonic already has that feature: If the interval is greater than the sleep time, then the camera goes to sleep once the photo finishes writing to the card (1-3 sec, depending on card and jpg vs RAW), even if the sleep time is set to, say, 60 seconds.

I've been doing a lot of time lapse with my E-M5 II and I've found that the best setting is to turn the rear screen inwards and only use the EVF and have the Auto Switch for the EVF/rear screen set to ON. I also set the dimming and sleep modes to their fastest time and even turn on the Quick Sleep mode. With this setup the camera turns on the EVF to make each exposure but if you remove your eye from the EVF it will turn itself off in second or two and stay off until it is time for the next exposure. I did a twelve hour time lapse (1 minute interval) a couple of days ago and at the end the battery was still showing a full green.

Re: E-M10 Mark II: Time Lapse problems

Unfortunately the screen of the E-m10 mk II can't be turned inwards. It's either the evf or the screen that's always on. I've tried all options as far as I could find, but I don't manage to get both the evf or screen off between exposures of a timelapse. Quick sleep on 3 sec didn't work, not displaying pictures didn't work, eye recognition on or off didnt work, remote didn't work. So annoying. Time for a firmware update!

Anyone with a way to fix this?
