If you buy one at a good price secondhand you cannot go wrong.

Andy at the ATMTX photo blog shoots this lens all the time, especially for the HDR work he does. Give his work a look. Excellent blog as well. http://blog.atmtxphoto.com/

Re: Panasonic 14 mm 2.5 lens

I have one, nice compact lens that I use for indoor family gatherings. I don't think it's quite as sharp as my Oly 25, 1.8 or even my Panny 12-32. But it's really tiny and I only paid about $120 for it used. Good utility lens.

I have used mine a lot on my E-M5 and it works well. Very fast to focus. The size is of course its unique selling point.

Great little lens. Emphasis on little. IQ is decent and great relative to size.

Photozone review of lens. Done using 12mp sensor, so not current in terms of how it is with the 16mp sensor on this generation of m4/3 cameras. The review gives is a good solid rating. I have one. Hard to beat for the angle of view, size and price.

Yes, it is worth having it to hold it in your hand. Hard to believe it is so small!

But . . . it has issues with flair. Needs some kind of hood.

Re: Panasonic 14 mm 2.5 lens

I'm not sure what it is about it, but I didn't really like it. I owned it with my Olympus E-M10 and ended up using my 25mm f1.8 much more. So I sold it, along with the E-M10.

Later, I got a GX7 with 20mm f1.7 and liked that lens a lot more. Hardly came off the camera. Maybe it's the faster speed or the focal length, or a combination of both. Or maybe even that I like how the 20mm renders images.

If you have a local camera store that has the lens, give it a try! But it's also goes for pretty cheap used nowadays that it hardly matters.

I regret parting with it

I had it, and back in June 2015 I sold it to a friend with the G5. All to finance the 9-18mm, which I eventually sold too. But of all lenses I've sold, the one I regret the most is the 14mm. I'm getting one as soon as I can. Right now I'm saving for the 7-14mm f:2.8 Pro.

This is a great little lens capable of taking stunning video and photos. I have used it on a Panasonic GH3 & GH4.

It is perhaps the most versatile for outdoor landscape video and photography because it is the only prime that accepts Panasonic's outstanding Wide Angle Conversion Lens.

Know what you mean. I would say the rendering is a bit "brassy". On the other hand, it is very sharp and many people like that. There have been complaints about the edge to edge sharpness, but I can't fault the lens there.

Re: Panasonic 14 mm 2.5 lens

Probably depends on your style and needs. I really like the lens. As others have already said, it's incredibly small and light, and that was part of the attraction for me. With that lens I can easily slip an E-M10 into a reasonably sized jacket pocket. On a GM1 nobody thinks you're using anything other than a compact. I find mine has very good center sharpness and contrast wide open. Overall IQ improves, especially corners, when you stop down a little. I used to worry about corner sharpness and vignetting. But how often do people add vignetting and sometimes a little blur vignette in post processing? For me it's just really a fun lens.

Re: Panasonic 14 mm 2.5 lens

That is very astute of you to ask that question. I have a Panny 20 mm 1.7 and a Olympus 45 mm 1.8. I did think a 12 mm for landscape and family shots would be best, but the Olympus 12 mm 2.0 is just too expensive for my pocket. And I like using primes because of their small size so I do not want to go down the road of using zooms. I think I will go for the 14 mm Panny. Wex are doing it for £269. I will probably buy new as always a bit wary about buying secondhand. Thanks to everyone for their postings on the subject

It's very small and pretty good

The corners need a little work in PP, but otherwise this lens is a pretty good performer. A must for any moderate wide-angle prime user.

Chromatic aberrations on Olympus bodies?

I remember reading that this lens produces plenty of CA on Olympus bodies due to the fact that Olympus uses a weaker UV-filter on their bodies? Easy to fix on post-processing, but something to think about? Or are the filters in never Olympus-models different?
