Pen -F has spot metering at the focus point

Looking through the press release this is a little hidden, but a good move from Oly - especially as Panasonic have had this incredibly useful way of spot metering for ages.

Looks like it will be a feature when the e-m1(ii) reaches us.

Good find!

It is  the right thing to do. It is also a good omen for the  E-M1 ii to come.

Yup, the text is " Enhancing the detail of every shot is AF Target Spot Metering, which links the AF Target and the metering area, while Super Spot AF and Small Target AF make it possible to focus on small subjects."

Heh, heh, the complaints about menu complexity will overwhelm us. But certainly is a useful addition.

Those who are gear heads and pixel peepers can find Olympus offering options overwhelming because they have more choices to get their wanted shot, so they likely whine about the complexity.

And then Olympus still makes their cameras to be easy to learn and easy to use from beginners to experienced shooters who doesn't know what they want until they see it, or who know what they want before taking camera in to the hands.

This is nice addition, but it is just something that feels slightly off that it doesn't come anymore to E-M1 as it gets replaced. E-M1 might get still one (or two) firmware update to keep it going until its successor gets released. I would welcome something like that Mono or Color creative modes.

Like look the new PEN-F color and mono creative modes. They are actually awesome. Yes, may screams "Oh it is not a RAW!" heck, what do you want? RAW that is even more manipulated than now in digital cameras? What RAW would be if it would include even more alternations to the data?

And it is carried in RAW as well! You run files through Olympus Image Viewer and you can output the JPEG from the RAW, or just get the RAW and shoot as with any other mode. If you are RAW shooter then you don't need so often latest cameras as the RAW allows you so much more than JPEG does so be happy for it.
