AE issue

My camera is the S90 but this may apply to other Powershots. I normally half-press for focus and recompose. The issue is that this procedure causes AE to stop monitoring light changes. The solution I'm aware of is setting AF lock. The downside is that if shooting conditions require you to reset AF between shot you get slowed down. An alternate solution would be to correct exposure in raw. Are there other ways to deal with this?

Re: AE issue

When speed is not required you can move the focusing square to the desired focus point on the screen thus negating the need to recompose. For situations that require speed you could try the AiAF multi point focusing mode and hope the camera gets it right or you could set the camera to manual focus and employ the zone focusing technique.
