Olympus: assigning 'myset' to mode dial

I have created 4 'my set' pre-set collection of preferences for an E-PL6.
All of the selections stick and everything is fine when I recall the 'my set' pre-sets through the menu.

I understand I should be able to assign a 'my set' to a mode dial setting. I created the 'my set' pre-sets and assigned them to dial settings like iAUTO.

When I turn the mode dial to the associated dial setting, all the preferences in the 'my set' are present except my choices for the FN & REC buttons. These puppies seem to prefer 'remembering' however they were last used.

I know the 'my set' preferences are saved because I can turn to the mode dial setting, experience confused FN/REC behavior, go to menu and manually select the 'my set' I had associated with that mode dial setting... and all is good.

The 'my sets' are there.
When I associate them with a mode dial setting, FN/REC button go AWOL

Is there a way to make this work ?
I have tried deleting mode dial presets.
Recreated 'my sets'. Re-associated them.
Combed my hair.
Burned incense earmarked for midsummer eve.
Nothing...

This is the Olympus way.

I mentioned this to the head Oly rep in Canada a few months ago and his reply was a snooty "oh, I don't use mySets"

However, exactly at what time did you burn the incense; GMT or UTC or Local Time?

Re: Olympus: assigning 'myset' to mode dial

I left the incense on UTC +7
It should have been reset to -7
(should be easy enough to see how the error was made)

I don't expect to use the my sets often
There are a couple things I can easily do with my SLR and the pre s.. my sets helped me replicate them on the E-PL6 with fewer buttons.

Anyway, if this is just the Olympus way, I will be able to save some time and drop it.  I had gone bat nuts trying different combinations to get this thing to work.

Re: Olympus: turn off display

really, the biggest thing is being able to turn off the display

typically, i have the display on, of course, but i made one preset with a button set to disable it.  this isn't odd to me; i will set up my SLR on a tripod and take pictures w/o looking through the viewfinder...

anyway, i haven't noticed any other easy way to turn off the display.
I don't see an option in either of the INFO menus.
If there is an easy way to do this w/o assigning it to FN button, much of my 'my set' angst will be relieved...
