Mobile Photo comparable to DSLR Shot!

Dear Friends,

I have been using higher end Cameras for many years. And to my surprise, this mobile gives excellent results (equivalent or better)! Request your comments, Please.

A Church Shot in Ambient light!

A shot in day light

If interested, I can give further details.

This camera gives full control except for the fixed F 1.9 - (In Pro Mode). The Camera weighs just below 170 Grams! It performs well in LOW LIGHT conditions as well!

A detailed review shall follow, shortly,

Thanks

Firstly, which phone is it?
Secondly, those are very nice shots but it's quite a statement to claim that the camera is better than a DSLR (or MILC).
For a start most cameras perform well in good light, but optically can't compete when the light gets dim, especially for moving objects.

With due respect to our friend, Markyboy81,

Sir, firstly, I am sorry, if I have hurt any of your sentiments.

1. This mobile is Samsung (Android) Galaxy S6 Edge Plus.

I am a user of Sony 7RM2, RX10 M2, A6000, etc. and compared many shots with this mobile (less than 6 inch, 170 grams)! It is a reality that we have to really study the way in which the Mobile Camera technology is catching up. If you don't get offended, I will include few more shots with comments (to understanding the trend change, which I am sure you will appreciate) - kindly inform your friends also about these developments.

Roughly 6 feet under a 11 Watts fluorescent light.

12 to 15 feet away from 18 watts florescent lamp.

Cloudy day light - Macro - you can see the Ant!

You are a very senior member and I respect you. I need to learn a lot from you. As a design Engineer in Electronics (which was my profession 22 years back), I enjoy trying new trend.

I am very new to this forum and I request you to kindly excuse me for any mistake and also guide me.

Once again thank you for your comments and valuable time.

There is a misconception by some DSLR shooters, that small sensor camera's can't be good.

It all depends how you look at pictures. On a screen at a proper distance, only a trained photographer will see a difference between the pictures.

Most people like there smartphone pics, so why not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

VERY well captured! The S6 has a excellent camera and why I moved away from iPhone. I've shot images that easily rival my M4/3 and p&s gear. Video from the Samsung is wonderful with it's image stabilization and detail. Thanks for the post.

No offence taken whatsoever, Namboodiri. As I said before, I like these pictures very much and I too am amazed by how the technology has moved forwards in terms of mobile phone photography. I have also owned the Note 5, which uses the same camera as the Edge plus so I know what a fantastic camera it is.

However, I will still stand by what I wrote about it not being able to compete with larger sensor cameras in low light, especially when shooting moving objects. I notice that you didn't include any such photos in your examples. This is mainly down to the tiny sensor used. If you only take photos in good light and/or still objects then the Edge Plus will produce excellent results.

Yes, Thanks.

I fully agree with you regarding low light and shake in moving objects.

Edge Plus has a 1/2.6" sensor size with 1.12 µm pixel size. Shortly we will be seeing Mobile sized Camera.

I have kept few more photos

Yes, dear friend - all shots are hand held. The road shot is hand held and in a moving car.

Thanks

Re: Mobile Photo comparable to DSLR Shot!

Here's an interesting posting on the same topic.  OK, it's somewhat off topic since the phone in question is an iPhone, but for comparing to a DSLR, the iPhone and a modern Android phone are pretty similar:

Impressive. You have steady hand, out there OS works really well.

The takes great photos - arguably the best of any smartphone.

Looking forward to the S7.
