Re: Yosemite National Park

Greetings from Finland.

Thanks for sharing - these are really beautiful pictures.

I visited in the last June in Yosemite, and it was pretty packed. Is it still a popular place to visit in winter?

Would love to go there back and see it during winter (but I didn't enjoy driving there - too much curves for my taste).

Given the record snow (and rain) we are having this year.  Yosemite is a 3hrs drive for me but I haven't been there for a long while - summer is crazy and so is winter

Great compositions.  No humans, no cars.  Blissful!

Re: Yosemite National Park

Thank you Roel...yes in Summer its crazy, traffic is almost as worse as LA's traffic

Here is how it was on that day...granted all road leading into the park were closed because of rock slide.

Re: Yosemite National Park

Thank you Apekkpul.

99% of visitors come in Summer because of the outdoor activities. Most of the people who come in Winter are mostly for the scenery and some hiking in the snow (when there is) also people come for cross country skiing.

There are two majors road to get to the Park. 120, many turns for a few miles to get high in altitude and the 41 which is less...it's all depends from where you come from.

A fine reward for your sacrifice

I'm sure you were dealing with some cold fingers and toes, but you've come away with a fine payoff. Very nicely done!

Thank you Addlightness. To be honest I was there already when the snowstorm hits. I was there for a week with my son school fir=eld trip as a chaperon. When there was a road closure, there educators that helped us with the program couldn't get in that day, so I had free time while the kids and other parents clean up their cabins I sneak out to take pictures

B&W? Right on, Nam

I really don't go much for B&W these days (I had very little else in my youth) but these pictures are superb and your B&W treatment does them very, very well.

The way you have handled the tones is terrific. Tell me, how did you go to B&W? Did you shoot B&W and if so, what setting, or move to it in PP? And if so, using what approach?

One little gripe -- the last picture with the chapel. I would prefer that with rectilinear verticals. I find the converging lines distracting.

El Capitan

I particularly like the El Capitan viewpoints for it's one of those I have not shot

I see that you live in Penngrove, up North

I live in Saratoga, 1 hour S from you

Maybe next time you plan to go in February, we can get together

Here's one of mine recently

Thank you Geoffrey. I shoot in RAW and use Google Nik Silver Efex Pro to convert them in black and white.

I rarely do the lens correction because I like the way the 7-14mm render them..just a question of taste.
