I love this lens

I purchased this lens new about 2 years ago from a local retailer.

Out of the 12 lenses I own, this lens is mostly like to be on one of my cameras.  It is sharp wide open, can focus in low light, and has IS.  This lens is my favorite of all my lenses as it AF's consistently, doesn't color the image like other lenses and is relatively light weight.   Plus the price (during rebates) makes this a wonderful deal for Canon users.

Have I tried the Sigma or the Canon 35 1.4?  No, and I am not likely to either as the IS is more important to me than the extra stop of light.

If I am shooting an event, I will bring this along with my 50 1.4 and the Canon 430 EX2 on my 6D.

This lens works well with the Sony A6000 & the Fotodiox Pro adapter.

More people should consider it!

When Canon came out with the 24,28,35 IS line the general feeling seemed to be 'that's odd';

wide angle benefits the least from IS. Optically they are excellent even wide open which is unusual at that price point. Combined with IS they become very flexible.

I bought the 28mm f2.8 IS just to try it and the price was $340 at the time. I don't feel I have compromised on the optical quality whatsoever just the aperture, but the IS is quite the consolation prize. Most people will never tell the difference between this and the latest high priced L lens. If you can live without f1.4 (really T1.7) you just saved a lot of money!

Appreciative student of the late Joan Wakelin. 39+ years later still enjoying it!

I bought the 28 IS initially and wound up returning it to buy the Tokina 16-28 as I found I don't really use 28mm very much.  It was an amazing lens though.

I love this lens. Fantastic all rounder is great in the lowest of light. 1/10 at f8 and still sharp. Don't hesitate on this one.
