A "new" hood for my Olympus 75-300mm

Due to the small camera bag I use the over-large bayonet hood designed for the 75-300mm lens is just too bulky, even when reversed on the lens. So I dug out a Hoya 58mm Multi rubber hood that collapses to a neater size to store in the bag.

That was fine until one day the very old rubber hood fell apart due to old age.

Hmmm, what to do? ..... I'll again search my photographic junk drawer.

Ha, a neat 55mm thread hood from a Minolta MC 135/3.5 lens, dig further and a 58-55mm step down ring and it's all go......

Even though it looks like a narrow hood it is well clear of vignetting at 75mm, the narrower hood fits better in my bag and now I'm all smiles again. The clash in brand names may confuse some observers, but do I care?

Regards..... Guy

Just a moderator approved bump as I posted this in the wrong forum (duh!) and by the time it was put right it had fallen to second page.

So it's a case of "what about the old 300mm capable lens?" instead of being swamped by 300/4 and 100-400mm news.

Apologies for the fuzzy image, my old E-PL1 is a bit chancy in low light with flash.

Regards..... Guy
