First snow of 2016 in Vancouver
1

Was out to test my parent's Panasonic 35-100 F4.0-5.6 (because the GF7 they ordered hasn't arrive yet) and I also brought out my 12mm from the lake. After I tested the telephoto, I took this landscape shot of Burnaby lake that I really liked that also marked the first snow in Vancouver for 2016 as well.

Shot with Olympus E-M10 with the Olympus M.zuiko 12mm F2 at F5.0, focus point focused at the further horizon on the left side of the frame to maximize sharpness. (Because of the field curvature of the lens, I find that if I were to be shooting landscapes, it is often better to focus on the farther subject that are on either sides of the frame than to focus in the center... this will ensure most of the frame will be in focus and reasonable sharp.

The 12mm F2 is far from a perfect lens, and it would be great if it had perfect edge to edge sharpness with a flat field... but it is what it is, and I am willing to make some compromise for the compactness and relatively large aperture of F2. Not to mention a few months ago, I bought it brand new for $600 cdn.. so can't complain, it was a great price!

Nice!  The oranges contrast nicely to the blues.
