Micro Four Thirds users in Brazil

Hi,

I have read a lot in this forum and on DPReview in general for many years, but created an account to be able to post only now.

I have recently (half a year ago) moved to Brazil (Belo Horizonte) and already before I moved, I started using Micro Four Thirds, 2 years ago with a G6 and the 14-140 II. I started digital in 2001 and used several DSLRs from Canon and Nikon before and now I have the E-M10 and the E-PM2 with still the 14-140 II as main lens but also the 12-32, the 17 1.8, Sigma 60, and Samyang fish eye.

I like Micro Four Thirds a lot because it is so compact and the cameras and lenses are great concerning image quality, dynamic range, range of affordable lenses, and more.

Now I want to know whether there are other m43 users living in Brazil here in the forum and also where you buy m43 gear in Brazil, in which stores, both internet and brick and mortar. Do you also order from internet stores outside Brazil? Which stores do this and how does it exactly work?

Re: Micro Four Thirds users in Brazil

Here, from Rio. Using pany and oly since 2003.

EVERYTHING I have ever bought, including AA and AAA rechargeable batteries, I have bought in B&H, and brought here by friends.

My worst experiences have been with Oly  low Quality  control for their 4/3 lenses: my 12-60 and 50-200 are broken, and therefore paperweights in Brazil.

Hi,  I am from Rio. I bought all my equipment in the US. But it is possible to find reasonable deals at Mercado livro or at the Mundo Fotográfico forum.

I may sell my 20mm 1.7 if you're interested.

Abs,

Rodrigo

Re: Micro Four Thirds users in Brazil

Thank you luisflorit and Rjansenbr2 for your answers. Up to now I also have bought only abroad, in the UK, the US (not yet at B&H though), and in Germany.

Rjansenbr2, also thank you for your offer of the 20 1.7. I have already thought about it because of its size and sharpness, but many people gere on the forum tell about that it causes banding on high ISO with the sensor used by my two bodies, I also tested it on my E-M10 in a camera store in London and observed the banding by myself. So I ended up with the 17 1.8 which is somewhat larger but works perfectly for me.

Will have a look at Mundo Fotografico and Mercado Livre.

On my wishlist are the Oly 9-18 (should be better than Pana 12-32 + WA converter) and the Oly 75-300 II.

Re: Micro Four Thirds users in Brazil

Hi Till, I come and go, so it's easy for me to source what I need, if I can wait. Otherwise in the city center of Sao Paulo there are good photographic equipment stores (Rua Conselheiro Crispiniano and Rua 7de Abril region), others of used gear (they buy and sell). Most are quite knowlegeable. I will get specific addresses and phone numbers in the coming weeks and post here for you.

I am SO new to this that I don;t even know how to post a question.

Boa sorte!

Re: Micro Four Thirds users in Brazil

Obrigado, I am waiting for your list posted here If you could also help with destinations in Belo Horizonte it would be even better.

If you want to ask a question in the forum, if you enter the forum and see the list of existing threads, there is a yellow button at the upper left to start a new thread. But before asking, check whether no one else has already asked your question, especially if it is about equivalency ...
