Recommendation for External flash for 1200d

So i bought the yognuo yn565ex ii. i was told it works for the 1100d so will probably work for the 1200d. but once attached the flash doesn't fire when a picture is taken. maybe someone can help me there.

but in the other hand will probably get another flash that will work properly for the 1200d anyone got any recommendations for this camera, maybe something they are using? thank you.

I assume you've checked that you haven't inadvertently set the speedlite or the 1200D's menu to disable flash

Yongnuo, like Sigma, has struggled to correctly backward engineer Canon's ETTL flash autoexposure system.   Myself, I just pay the extra for a Canon EX speedlite and have no worries about compatibility.

IMHO, YMMV.

Do yourself a a favor and get a Canon 430ex or 430exII. It will work flawlessly on your 1200D.

Are you using Liveview? 3rd party flashes don't work if you are in Liveview with "silent shooting" enabled. Just go into the menu and disable "silent shooting".

$95 Aperlite YH-700C | Work 100% with Ease, HSS + Wireless

I had two Canon 430ex and a Canon 90ex (wireless master), and I sold themafter I bought an Aperlite YH-700c.  Its a more powerful flash with much quieter & faster recharge time:  my canon 430ex makes an annoying high-pitch sound recharging between shots.

What I LOVE about the YH-700C is the ease-of-use.  I never did read the Manual, I just pop the camera into my hotshoe and everything works.  Want High-Speed-Sync, no problem.  Wireless flash with Aperlite is also super-easy: press zoom button once, then up/down arrow, select Wireless slaves and you're good to go.  You do need a cheap Wireless Master (like 90ex) if you want to try wireless flash.

I love wireless flash setup.  Avoid mounting Big/Heavy flash ontop of my camera is liberating.  I love the new freedom of movement and flexibility that wireless flash provides.  Once you gone wireleess, its hard to go back to using hotshoe.

We're talking about 2 different flashes.  The original Canon 430ex has a very LOUD recharge sound.  The II fix this problem.

well, just wanted to point out that the argument against the 430ex does not apply to the markII version (the one which is sold nowadays).

Re: Recommendation for External flash for 1200d

Hi, I was wondering if you need any triggers or remotes for the 430ex?

I also have a 1200d and am in the market for an external flash, but have only been recommended kits of over £200. I just need a simple flash I can connect to my camera

I agree with dleemans above.

I picked up my Canon speedlite from their online refurbished store.
It was like new and saved some money as well...
