G5X Dimensions

G5X User Guide has the following dimensions...

I'm trying to determine if the G5X will fit in the case I use for my G11.

Can someone confirm whether or not the Depth measurement (44.2mm / 1.74 in.) includes the viewfinder extending from the back... or only the body + lens depth?

With the rubber eye piece, you are looking at a 2" depth front-to-back.

It’s 112 x 81 x 52 mm including the hot-shoe and viewfinder.

But it fits into the Lowe Pro pouch, that I used for my G11 with the strap wrapped around it - loose fit.

Is the rubber eye piece easily detachable?

Check out CameraSize.com to compare the G5X size with other cameras. It doesn't have the G11, but the G12 is similar in size.

I tried with a little heft, and it didn't budge so I didn't explore further- it is pretty rigid so consider it part of the body.

Re: G5X Dimensions

I am getting a custom fitted case from Ripoffs Holsters in a day or two that will live on my belt. The Lowepro size that fits is still too big and the double zipper is too discouraging to get the camera out resulting in too many missed shots.

I'd love to hear how it fits, what it costs, and how happy you are with it!

Thanks for verifying.

camerasize.com depth dimensions indicate the GX5 is 4.1mm thinner than the G11. However, the top-view comparison visually shows the GX5 being thicker (assuming the photos are scaled correctly).

It appears Canon did not include the rear viewfinder extension in their 44.2mm/1.74" depth spec.

Thanks.  I wonder how Canon came up with a height of 76.4mm, perhaps not including the hotshoe?
