Amazon UK deal on Olympus 40-150 PRO

This might be of interest to some. £975 minus £100 in cashback brings that down to £875. Sounds like not a bad deal. This is one of those lightning deals so it lasts for 3 more hours or so.

Thanks for the heads up, just bought one for £975.50 with the 1.4 TC. Unfortunately the extra £100 discount only applies if you purchase the E-M5 II as well. Still very happy, cheapest i've ever seen it in the UK

Got a lot to learn, but it's fun trying.

Ahh, I've missed this detail. And the fact that this is a lens + TC combo

but you beat me to it. I think this is the best price I've seen for the lens + TC in the UK (previous low seems to have been £1050)

Re:ADVICE URGENT Amazon UK deal on Olympus 40-150 PRO

Having a OMD EM5 I know this lens would kick butt. My question is would you take that camera and this lens (need to sort it out very soon) to a Motorsport event of go to Canon or Nikon and spend £1600-1800 from grey market?

cheers

I use Nikon DSLRs. I think I would always prefer to shoot sports with a DSLR because the continuous AF is just excellent (I speak about the 51 point Nikon system). However, historically I've taken a M43 camera to live events where size or large cameras/lenses are an issue (e.g. live music, sports etc). Generally M43 cameras give you some latitude with focus because of the large DOF and your biggest issue (especially at this time of year) is light and whether you need to go to ISO 800-1600 to get the shutter speed you need for action.

Previously I've used the 70-300 Oly lens for outdoor sports in the summer, but I've had to juggle the 75mm and 35-100mm F1.8 for shooting indoors, that's why I've been waiting for the price of this lens plus the teleconverter to fall under £1000.

To summarize, would you be able to take a DSLR into the event you plan to shoot?

Interesting....

I have a mate who lives in Scarborough near Perth. So he could get me the Oly 40-150 with TC for near enough £550??

I wonder how much postage is....and if it won't get damaged!
