GX8 + 14-140 II of Fuji X-T1 + 18-135

Choises: I used to photograph with Olympus 3/4 (E3 +12-60), switched to Fuji X-E1 + 18-55 + 55-200 and I was very pleased with the results (though I prefer the 3/4 format over the 3/2 one). Changing lenses however is always a bit problematic, especially during my bike tours.

Some time ago I tried the new Panasonic GX8 + 14-140/3.5-5.6 and it felt just perfect in my hands, even more than the X-T1 + 18-135 which I had in mind as a replacement voor my X-E1. So now I have 'the problem' what to choose. On the internet I read many reviews and looked at many pictures of both lenses.

I'm curious about your experience with this 14-140 II. Are you happy with it, did you find any weaknesses? May be there are people here who own both the Fuji 18-135 and Panasonic 14-140 II. It would be very helpful to me to hear more about that.

I really like the 14-140. I only change it when I want the faster speed or super high quality of a good prime, but it is very sharp for a zoom.

It sounds like most people use it 80±% the time.

In fact, the O.I.S is so good, it beats my my non-IS primes for sharpness in lowlight on still objects (but typically 1.4 primes have a IQ bell curve that peaks around 5.6 and is fairly low IQ wide open)

So I think you'll really like it.

If you like the 3/4 form factor, go for the GX8.

And thanks to the higher resolution of the sensor, any optical advantages of the fuji are neglectable

Just stay away from the typical shutter shock times (1/160 etc.)

I have read much about this shutter shock. Do you have this problem in combination with the GX8 too?

Any disadvantage to using only electronic shutter on GX-8 to prevent shutter shock (  and it is quieter also) ?
