Olympus E-PL7 + Panasonic 14-42mm pancake problems

Hi all, I'm hoping to pick some brains here since I'm stumped.

I recently bought an Olympus E-PL7 and the Panasonic PZ 14-42mm to go with it and I've ran into sticky shutter problems.  I can repro the issue using the following settings: ISO 6400, high burst mode, aperture priority.

The shutter would close, and not open again.  The LCD would be frozen with the image and the only thing I can do is to remove the battery and reset the camera.  Is this lens not compatible with the camera?  Am I missing something here?  I see this combo on DxOMark...

I thought there was a problem with the camera, so I exchanged it, but the same thing happens.  I tried my other Olympus and Panasonic lenses on the camera, no problems.  I tried this lens on my E-M1, no problems.

Any insights would be highly appreciated!

Just a guess, but dodgy connections between body and lens? Both have their tolerances, maybe each is at the opposite end from the other and it's just enough to cause problems? The test you've not yet done is another copy of the lens on the same camera - my guess is that will turn out to work....

No problems here with an E-M5 and Panasonic 14-42 pancake lens.

I have been using this combination for over two years now. No issues whatsoever. So it's not a general Olympus to Pana 14-42X lens compatibility issue. It could be poor contacts. It could be something specific to the E-PL7. (Would be strange but cannot rule it out.)

Enjoying the Olympus OM-D E-M5.

I wonder if it's a firmware/software compatibility issue if it only happens with VERY specific settings...you might be the first to find this very specific issue!

Thanks for all the replies. I just contacted customer service for an exchange. Hopefully like most of you think, it's just the contacts.

Exchange your EPL7 or return or have it serviced right away (if still until warranty). This is a well known problem. I lost my first Oly camera due to it, right after the one yr warranty period.

Oh geez, thanks for the heads up. I already exchanged it once.. Is yours also an E-PL7?
