NX1 Video - Temple Scenes
3

Trying to learn video a bit more and put this together from Wong Tai Sin Temple in HK. Lot's of times I miss focus and some parts are overexposed but learned a lot Love this cam !!

Handheld (lots of parts stabilised afterwards in FCPX) using a Samsung 16-50/2-28. Gamma DR, Contrast -5, Master Black Level +10, Sharpness -10. Film Convert (Red / Epic X / Redgamma 3 - Fuji Astia 100). Music is "Shanghai Dream" by Christopher Ashmore.

I find the Gamma3 / Astia combo in FilmConvert is a nice match for GammaDR.

Cheers.

I'm on mobile so I can't see all the details, but in general, a travel tripod is always a good idea, I didn't notice a lack of a tripod though, and some obviously handheld shots seemed fine. But the tripod is like 101 videography advice, so I had to mention it!
The shot selection is fine, and the technical stuff seemed ok. Try more to tell a story in editing, the story is always the strong part. People/animals can be a strong element, or describe a walk through the temple, or the procedures there etc etc. There are always unlimited options.
Then you need an establishing shot, something wider and descriptive, and then do some details with a more tele lens, or try to find a little sub plot (a couple that is lighting a cadle, a family in the bridge, etc etc).
Just a few things in general!

Did you use DIS? That helps enormously in stabilization with little effect on quality (unlike stabilizing in post). I like this video a lot, and understand that one cannot use a tripod in public areas without distracting people. Handheld is almost required. And DIS really helps.

Thanks for the feedback ... will try and tell more of a story next time

Regarding tripods and DIS, no tripods allowed in this temple and DIS was not around when I filmed this. Was pre-1.4.

Cheers.
