4 Point Flare while photographing a relatives headstone!
2

This is with the Pana 7-14/4.  This is not the lens choose to go shooting headstones in a cemetery, but it was the only lens I had with me at the time.

This is not the first "supernatural" phenomenon I've experienced doing genealogy research either...

Re: This is an organ I built. The photo was taken in June.

Are all the organs in your gallery ones you have built?  What does it mean to build an organ? do you assemble the parts or do all the woodwork, or the metal work or??

The organs are just lovely pieces of work - thanks for sharing.

Lets have some fun and share some pictures which nice or surprising lens flare. It has to be micro 4/3 lens. Please add information what lens. Here's one, Panasonic 14-42 mk2.

Nice lens flare, huh !

Now lens flare is good ?
All those pix I deleted are now of interest ?

I take the usual steps to avoid flare as much as possible.
Hoods on (most) lenses, hand shade if no hood, avoiding the sun etc. in frame.

I have some old legacy lenses that'll really give some flare if this is going to become a 'thing'.

Like some software filter effects. . .

. . . the novelty of it may be interesting for a period, and some may even specialize in trying to be creative with extreme lens flare. But mostly flare like that is a distraction and a detraction from one's objectives. So enjoy it for as long as possible - and learn how to avoid it while trying to exploit it.   Granted, sometimes flare can make an image more than what it would be without it, but that's usually a fortuitous mistake (and can be very cool).

It's not unlike a dog with your shoes. . . it might be cute when it initially bonds with one of your shoes like a chew toy, but eventually all your shoes could be ruined. [g]

Taken this past June on the Chain Bridge in Budapest. This was a very early morning shot (I took the first metro ride to downtown at 4:30am). The city was very quiet at that hour and the sunrise was incredible.

I love this shot.   There isn't a lot going on here in the way of lens flare, however (maybe that's why I love it?).

Fall morning

New camera and lens so I enjoyed this exercise. It allowed me to see what this lens does with flare. Thanks!

Re: Some Budapest Flare

There's a tiny bit of lens flare below the sun and to the left. I believe I had the aperture at f/8 or f/9 so I was expecting more of a starburst. But, when I processed the photo at home I noticed all the rays from the sun both in the sky and below the sun. There's even a nice pattern through the holes in the bridge railing

Daughter flare

Last year when I did my daughter's senior photos I experimented with some purposeful flare. I used the 50-200 swd for this...

A lens flare made on purpose. Used an Olympus 7-14mm.

Is that coming from 43 Olympus or the new m43 Olympus 7-14mm?

I used the 4/3-version of the lens. The lens is not very sensitive to flare, but you can get flares if you want them, like I did.
