Samsung 16-50 Power Zoom f3.5-5.6 + NX-1

Hello all...

I have a question regarding the "sticky settings" or "memory" on this lens...

My problem is when I'm in a street photography mood I set the lens to 26-30 mm but when is turned off or goes to sleep it always defaults to 16 mm... Causing a extra step and possibly missing a shot.

Is there a way to make it "remember" and return to its previous focal length after its turned on?

I went through all the menus on the NX-1 and cant seem to find it.

Only work around I can think of is to turn off power save and keep the camera on at all times... wasting the battery when not in use...

Any help would be appreciated:-|

I've not found a solution to this I'm afraid, but for the relatively small cost of it, I can highly recommend the 30mm pancake lens as a brilliant alternative - sharper, better aperture range and more compact.

Sorry it's not the solution you were after

I would not recommend 30mm for street photography as its AF is not reliable and can hunt a lot if even in slightly difficult situations.

Fair point, but manual focus or even just relying on wide DOF with smaller apertures works quite well in my experience. All depends on preferences I guess. I just like how compact the 30mm is and how sharp the images are.

This is one of the problem with PZ lenses, as far as I know all PZ lenses have this problem (although it should be easy to solve the problem in lens firmware). Look into Samsung's older lenses, like 18-55 and 20-55.

Don't turn off the camera, switch off the display only. That's the most battery-consuming part of the camera.

This is a good Idea... I just put sleep to 3min it worked fine...I guess...

was out during the golden hour took about 150 pics and the battery dropped to 91%

If curious here is one of my pics...
