A6000 vs NX500 against the GX7? But I guess I don't really need a new camera...

Much good and well-grounded advice here, especially about avoiding GAS and seeing the trade-offs among these cameras. I 'll say something a bit different.

First, if you wish to make a change from m43 go SONY over Samsung. Samsung does not have sufficient market share (outside of its home country) and I do believe they will drop out of the camera market after limping along for a few more years. Samsung is not a company as we would understand the term; it more like an economic empire so vast and far-flung that it makes the term "conglomerate" applied to western firms look penny-ante. No one steers a ship like that. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the rumour originated inside the firm as a way of settling scores.

Second, go to SONY, but don't bother with another crop sensor: go to full frame and buy some high quality manual focus Zeiss lenses for the camera. Then you will see significant improvements in resolution, which seems to me to be what you're looking for. Am I right?

I am somewhat surprised, by the way, that you never tried Olympus - seeing that you aren't interested in video. You might have liked their better stabilised cameras, but be that as it may at this point if you are really unsatisfied I think you need to look into a more powerful camera.

Not all Sony full-frame A7 series owners are happy with their cameras.

I have been going through hell recently trying to decide what my second camera should be. My main criteria were small and light take eveyshere camera. The choices I had were the a6000 or rx100 III mainly, with some other choices occaisionally thrown in the mix. Now ths a6000 was nearly always at the top my list - good price, APS-C sensor. Something kept me from making that purchase...the native lens choice is awfull. The kit lens stinks even as a kit lens. What little good lenses that were available are over priced IMHO.

I then spotted the closeout for the GX7 for $599 at Adorama. For slightly less than a a6000 i get a full featured camera, far better kit lens and a far better lens choice to expand into. For me, it's the deal of the decade. OK, its an oldish camera, but feature wise, show me anything that has better bang for buck. I know that if I had got an a6000 I would have regretted it down the line...the lens choice just doesnt inspire me compared to MFT.

For the money, that sounds like a wise choice. Either that or the E-M10.

I especially like the smaller size of the M43 lenses.

just hire something...

instead of swapping out only to buy back again hire a bit of kit to try first, then if like it switch to what you prefare.
