Focus lock on a Canon PowerShot?

I'm working with a Canon PowerShot SX20 IS and I'm doing mostly video work. I have it set on a specific scene filter, but when I'm shooting the focus is continuously being adjusted by the camera, which messes up the video. Is there any way I can lock the focus but still use the scene filter?

I would think that activating MF would do the trick (once you've focused).

Page 85 of the user manual shows you how to do it.

Not completely sure what you're doing or how, but AFL is one of the Shortcut button options - Menu/Shortcut button/AFL.  I usually have that Shortcut setting myself.

On my SX10 I tried 1) selected a Scene, 2) Shortcut to AFL - shows up onscreen, 3) activatied video with the red video button.  That seems to preserve the Scene mode with AFL and shoot the video.  I only did a two minute indoor test but you could give it a try.
