40-150 Pro + TC and 60mm macro Hoverfly's and Insects
5

Some insects I came across in while organising some of my photo albums last night.
The hoverfly's are taken with 60mm macro and 40-150 pro and the rest with the 40-150 + TC

I shot most of these a while ago and from my experience the E-M1 and tracking does well on hovering insects. I have yet to try CAF without tracking for insects which I suspect will work better (I use CAF without tracking for BIF) but since its warming up the insects are starting to come out which should give me a chance soon.

The 40-150 pro is also great for shy insects that easily spook like the butterflies.

very nice and very sharp I'm amazed that you got that level of sharpness at the lower shutter speeds.

Thanks for the nice comments Trevor

The E-M1 IS is amazing at times and I really push it now sometimes and know it well. I have managed sharp birds in shadows at around 1/10 sec @ ISO 200 as further experiements and succeeded. Ofcourse most birds and things move but with CAF and burst one can capture those still split second moments with steady hand holding and some luck.

All the shots are handheld too, forgot to mention that

I see you've followed the air show dictum of "blurring the propeller" on the hoverflies.

Have always loved watching those little guys, never tried shooting one. These are really good, especially how soft the background rendered.

Cheers,

Thanks mate i think the wing blurring makes them look more like they are really hovering. Sometimes its good to freeze subjects fully sometimes some wing blur makes interesting shots.
