Lens Acquisition Plan for 7D MKII

I am currently in the mode of consolidating lenses for my 7D MKII.  I currently have a Tokina 12-24 F4 II I use for my real estate photography.  However I have just acquired a Canon 17-55 IS.  I am looking to sell my 12-24 for a 10-18.  There are a few rare times I need that extra 2mm.  My plan currently is to have the 10-18 STM and 17-55 IS.  Beyond that I'm really undecided.  I have several options to choose from.  I will preface that usually once I go beyond 50mm I usually double my focal length when using telephoto.  I have thought about going with a 70-200 F4.  If I went the prime lens route  I would either go with the 85mm and 135mm path or the 100mm and 200mm path.  I do like the extra stops of light with the primes.  If I do end up picking up a telephoto zoom I might get a Tamron 70-300 VC.

Which 85mm and 100mm lenses were you thinking of going with?

I was going 85 1.8 or 100 f2.  If I ever do end up going macro I will probably get the 60mm.

I am thinking to buy 7D Mk II but at the same time Canon 6D Price and cores specifciation attracts me too much... however while looking for 7D Mk II lenses I jumped on a nice set of lens recommendation written by the new camera website, take a look.

I am actually toying with the idea of either the 70-200 F4 IS or the Tamron 70-200 VC.  I have some upcoming jobs that may make that happen.

Tamron 70-300VC & 150-600VC if on a budget, of course there are other canon lens like 70-200L or 70-200 F/4 are all good lens.

IMHO:

10-18 IS STM, 18-135 IS STM, 50mm f1.8 STM newest nifty fifty, 55-250 IS STM or 70-200 f4 IS L, and a set of cheap macro extension tubes, maybe the Tamron or sigma 150-600, all done.

These will cover you from head to toe for a long time.

I actually just picked up a new 55-250 STM for $129 on eBay.  I figured that would go nicely with my 17-55 F2.8 while I decide on a more costly solution such as the 70-200 F4 IS.

Re: Lens Acquisition Plan for 7D MKII

I think you will be pleasantly surprised with the 55-250 STM. For me, it performed better on my 7D than the 70-200mm f4L. Although the IS version is better, I think most people would automatically think that a L lens would perform better than a non L lens. Now the 70-200mm f4L on my 6D is terrific and produces much better images on it than it ever did on my 7D.
