Something is wrong with those Nikon profiles you are showing. Here is what I get with Plain Jane Nikon Portrait (left) and Nikon Camera Neutral (what I use for D750) and they do not look like the one you posted. No retouching of any kind was done, whether contrast or other.

This was converted with CNX-2 portrait with WB set using pupil as gray point.

It's why I tell people, set the WB correctly and the OOC jpegs will look better than most of the LR/Adobe RAW conversions I see. If you are shooting in a studio, just make a custom WB with the strobes off a gray card.

It's for modifying DNG camera profiles.  That's what Adobe camera profiles are.

Thanks for sharing these Bales.  This is a topic I find quite interesting, I like to play with color and being able to see side by side differences is by far the best way (for me).

Amazing thank you, works wonders for my D4, didn't like it so much for the D810, Adobe standard looked better (!)
Any chance you could supply us with the Portrait and Vivid profiles while at it ?

Re: Canon colour for Nikon d610(Adobe Profile)

Thanks for the profiles thread and the ensuing profiles discussion. There are those digital photographers who will quite skillfully use the X Rite Colorchecker to produce an objectively "accurate" color profile for a specific photgraphic situation, and that works well for them and they quite fairly proselytize for that approach, but it's not necessarily for everyone.

Many of us have unashamedly subjective views of the color profiles with which we are most comfortable. Many of us older folks who came into picture-making with film years ago experimented with the various Kodaks--Koda, Ekta, Veri; both in transpareny and negative film stock, the Anscos, the Agfas, the fujis, etc, and often settled at various times on one or perhaps two film materials for our images. (After much experimentation, I settled on Agfachrome 50 so you could guess how back that was.)
Now, digital shooting post-processing has given us a seemingly unlimited choice of camera/color profiles, an embarrassment of photographic riches. Let's all try to enjoy living together in this technically rich world--the technical accuracy seekers and the subjectivists. (By the way, my personal camera color profile is the "old" Nikon D2X Mode II and I apply it to my D750 NEFs and non-Nikon RAWs [Panasonic M43 images] in Lightroom, and then further tweak, only if and to the extent necessary, the final images.)
After all, the image is the thing, and I like to think that we are the final arbiters of our finished product.

Re: Canon colour for Nikon d610(Adobe Profile)

I admit, I'm a glutton for punishment when it comes to color.  It's like this black hole of subjectivity that no two people ever seem to agree upon.

I've been playing with this canon standard profile for my D750 and really liking it.  It definitely makes the D750 lightroom camera standard profile feel like it has a yellowish twinge to it.  So I work up some photos, I'm all excited and the differences and possible improvements... show some to my wife and she picks that Nikon camera standard.  Ugh.  I force her to double and triple check and she comes back with "I like the skin here better (Nikon standard) but make the cabinets a bit whiter".  LOL... it never ends.

Okay, so dumb question.  I put this in resources/cameraprofiles/camera/Nikon D750 but when I go to Camera profiles in lightroom, I just see neutral, portrait, standard, etc.  How do I actually use this profile?

For Windows, drop it in here and re-start lightroom.

C:\Users\{User Name}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

For Mac, I'd try Googling it, or maybe someone here knows.
