GX8 lens combo help

I`m thinking about getting the GX8. I have a 25 1.4 Panasonic Summilux so I gather that the inbuilt IS in the body will work with that lens?

Also, I have the latest Panasonic 14-140 OIS lens, so will that work in conjunction with the body IS? or is one switched off?

I shoot 4K video as well and from what I`m hearing the in body IS is turned off during 4K?

I believe the 14-140mm Panasonic was one of the lenses that received a firmware update to allow it to use the GX8 dual IS system.  You can download it and apply the update yourself.

To be honest I shoot video on a tripod, IS off and MF with my fz 1000 and the results can be superb.

Not yet. But this round of updates is about the Dual IS which 25 1.4 will not get as it lacks the OIS.

IBIS still works for this lens, of course.

There is an update for the Panasonic/Leica DG Nocticron 42.5mm F1.2 ASPH OIS but nothing yet for the Panasonic/Leica DG Summilux 15mm F1.7 or the Panasonic/Leica Summilux DG 25mm F1.4.

If in-body IS is really important, then the Oly EM5ii is probably the camera you want (in this size package).

If you're not sure that the GX8 is the camera that you want, then I suggest waiting a month or two. The price isn't going to go up, and you'll benefit from hearing others' feedback of their experiences.

It would just be nice to have IS with my 25 1.4. I`m certainly not changing makes, Panasonic really has got the 4K right now.

wait a couple of months:-( I`ll tell that to my best mate that died suddenly earlier this year He was left £1million a couple of years ago and had the best two years of his life buying sports cars, boats, cameras as and when he fancied. good luck to him and I`m sure he`ll RIP

IMHO, the 25 mm 1.4 has such a short focal length that it doesn't need IS.

Hey, in that case, go for it! (I did .. I pre-ordered the GX8 in July.)

In body IS works with the 25 F1.4 on the GX8. It's great.

I am also finding that IBIS works a treat with my Oly lenses too.
