DPP download possible?

Greetings

I am the proud owner of an aging 400D/XTi.  I haven't been using it for a while and in the mean time, my older computer died and between a few moves, have lost the CD for the DPP software.  I've just today dusted off the camera and charged the batteries and want to go out and take some pics, but will have to shoot in jpeg as I can't find the software so I can convert from RAW.  The reasoning for this is, I want to experiment to see if I want to get a better DSLR, keep this one, or go bridge like the Panasonic FZ1000.  The value of this camera is not much as it doesn't have video, live view, and has older technology, but I've taken some nice pics with it.  I would like to try it with DPP to see if I want to stay with the DSLR format or scrap the camera and sell off the 3 lenses I have. Does anyone have a link to a website where I can download it?

Thanks for any info, lepewhi

You could have just looked for it yourself...

I tried finding it, but it would let me update an existing DPP version, but not create or download one that didn't exist on this computer.

I think that advice is a bit old now. The last time I wanted Canon software on a new computer I downloaded the whole CD from the Canon site previously listed and all that was required was a valid Canon camera serial number.

I think Canon had to make that change with the number of computers coming out without an optical drive.

OP should check - don't try just DPP, try downloading the whole suite.

Edit: Sorry - didn't read Bright's whole message. As he says - works for mine.  Wonder if XSi download will start with an XTi serial number?  Worth a try.

I'll give it a try, hope it works.  Otherwise, I'll look for other options.

I went nuts yesterday trying to locate a serial number. Fortunately for me, the invoice included a number and through trial and error, I got the right one. So today I decided to do a search on how to locate a serial number.

https://www.usa.canon.com/app/html/where_is_my_serial_number.html

"If you cannot locate your serial number
please enter NO SERIAL NUMBER in the serial number field."

So hopefully even without a serial number a user can get the files.

Irfanview shows my serial number in the Exif info of every photo I've taken with this camera.

I have programs (including Irfanview) that show serial number in the Exif of just about all the cameras I own.  But I just got a new camera (G3X) without serial number plate and which shows no serial number in the Exif.

I wonder if it is a security issue?  Even so personally I'd expect and prefer to be able to see such information in a menu option on the camera.
