The 14-42 RII Kit lens....

It's unbelievable sharp and actually getting some great bokeh off of it! Definitely rivals the 25mm F1.8 in good light.

Unaltered JPEG from E-M10.

Sharp tele end of it.

Dusk Fog.

Just wanted to share some of my 14-42's with you guys

It's a sharp little lens, until you use a prime by comparison. It's a great way to start your lens kit and its incredibly cheap.

Actually, I found the 14 end of my 14-42 II was as sharp as the Panny f2.5 14mm. The 42 end wasn't up to the Oly f1.8 45mm.

My guess is that the OP is talking about the Olympus one. And I must say my 14-45 is just as good as my 20mm @ 20 and 7-14@14 and better then my 14mm (when I had it but it was awfully decentred or SS prone) and only ever so slightly less sharp then my Oly 45mm and only with the Oly at f5.6 or f8.

I'm trying to figure out if you were being serious. While your three samples are nice compositions, none of them are a showcase for 14-42 sharpness. There's not a sharp feature in any of them.

I think the lens is fine.

Well, the first prime I bought as a result of getting the 14-42 is the 12mm F/2. It is noticeably sharper. The 14mm F/2.5 isn't noted as the sharpest prime there is. I'm not saying the Olympus 14-42 II R is a bad lens it's just not as good as my 12mm on the wide end, and I prefer the sharpness, color and aperture of my 20mm F/2.
