Fuji XA1 great offer

I can get a Fuji XA1 with the 16-50 for 299€. I have the XE1 and XT1. Am I missing something special by not having the XA1, like better fine detail for landscapes with its Bayer sensor?

Yes.

You already have a nice stable of cameras. Do you really need another?

So, is it just G.A.S. or is it a real need that your other cameras can't fulfill?

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

No GAS. I was wondering about the relative merits of the Bayer sensor for landscapes.

I would get in a split second a Fuji camera with fast AF. I feel frustrated when I get many portraits out of focus because the person being photographed was nervous and moving rapidly.

You have an X-E1 and an X-T1 ... Not sure what the X-A1 is going to bring to the table here.

The Bayer sensor, better for landscapes according to some?

I loved the X-A1 output, but the camera itself felt like a cheap and point and shoot.  I Liked the X-E1 / X-E2 much better in use.

If fast AF is a concern, don't add additional Fuji cameras since you already have the fastest. As a matter of fact, I'd recommend putting your XE1 in a box for a while in order to master your use of the T1's AF capabilities and interface. Even without "mastering" it, I rarely miss focus on portraits taken with the T1. The trick is in knowing when to use which modes, when to press the shutter and lock focus, etc. With the addition of new AF modes, it becomes quite complicated and what works for one photographer may not match another's shooting style, so it is good to stick with one machine and discover what works for you.

Buy the A1 if you like tinkering with new gear or genuinely want something smaller. Any image quality gain in landscapes applies only to very large prints. Some like the colors better; some don't. A part of me enjoys playing with new toys, but the smarter part says I should just shoot more with my excellent T1.  I haven't begun to maximize what I can get out of it. The limiting factor in my photography is not my equipment; it's me.

You just need a RAW converter that handles X-Trans properly; I believe there was a thread on here showing the difference the RAW converter actually made. X-A1 doesn't resolve any better than X-E1. It's the workflow that matters.

Lightroom's X-Trans performance is a real shame, because imo it's by far the most convenient RAW converter to use. In fact I still use it despite knowing I'm missing out on some foliage detail, the plug ins are just too good to do without.

What RAW Converter for Fuji do you recommend?

How about Fuji's own Silkypix or just n-camera RAW converter?

I use Adobe Lightroom 5.

I mean, don't get me wrong, there are some better options out there if you really need the leaves in that distant tree to look impeccable, but for me, workflow and convenience (my existing plugins) beats the what the others bring to the table.

I realize this forum is a nerdfest, with all the shooting of brick walls and random detail tests, but trust me on this, if you cannot get good pictures in Lightroom, moving to Iridient or Phase One isn't going to save your photography lol.

Use any RAW converter that makes life easy for you, they all suffice, every single one of them.

Different strokes, etc. I love the X-A1 output, too (doubt, though, that its landscapes will be better than the X-T1). Since the small, lighter (more plastic-y design) didn't affect the quality of photos or ease of use, I thought not looking like "I am a serious professional camera" was a plus. (The AF is slow, if that matters to you. It doesn't to me.)

The X-A1 is very underrated, imo, because of its size and "look", but I've been very happy with it. That said, if you already have the two Fuji cameras you've mentioned, I don't think it will give you whatever you're missing with your landscapes.

Re: Fuji XA1 great offer

The X-A1 is a great buy and I have one as backup to my X-E2, but X-A1 RAW files are compressed more than the X-E2. If you are not interested in an occasional large print, then that won't affect you.

IMO, if you can not get results you like from the XE let alone the XT not even a Free Nikon D810 with free lenses can help.

The way I see it is put the $300 into a lens, tripod, filters, flash, something to enhance what you already have.
