Canon 5DX and Digic 7

The Digic 7 is going to be a quad core cpu which will allow 4x the processing power for high MP, high frame rate bodies. The 5DX will contain one Digic 7 and the 1DX Mark II will contain 2 Digic 7s and 1 Digic 6. The Digic 6 will be for metwring and other smaller tasks. The 1DX will have a different larger battery while thr 5DX will keep going with the same.

Is this wishful speculation or is there a source of some kind?

This next processor from Canon will be class leading and will be much faster than whats currently out. It will have multicores. The processing power will be equivalent to a laptop from years ago.

Canon really does need to catch up to other makers CPUs.  Not positive but doesn't fujitsu make the cpu for sony and nikon.  Does anyone know who makes Canon's CPUs?

Texas Instruments was apparently involved in DIGIC 5. I haven't heard of any particular company with regards to DIGIC 6.

it's possible .. I do believe that TI brought out some new DSP's with multi-core ARM's recently.

but depends on what canon is actually using and wants / can use inside of digic - with respects to power consumption and heat.

Why not throw in that Pentax pixel shift trick, too?

Quad cores don't yield 4X performance

It is not linear scaling. If you see anywhere, I'd like to know.

Lucky to get square root of 4.

I just laughed so hard. This is why I never believe any of those sites.

Ever since they posted about Canon using Sony sensors and then come find out a person was just fooling with them, I will never take anything they say serious.

The best was when the guy who played them for a fool told everyone in the comments section he had fooled them. Epic!😁

It's not really what he said, he said 4x processing power. You are correct when you say 4x doesn't make things 4x faster, much in the same way a 2 litre car which does 130 mph won't do 520 mph with an 8 litre engine.

Multiple cores are definitely an advantage otherwise why would Intel, AMD or others bother ? Even tvs have quad cores nowadays.
