Hi Dutch van Atlanta,

I see you took those shots using an SX60 but your list of previous gear says you had an SX700, which I believe has the same Digic 6 processor and sensor.
How does the image quality an IS compare? I guess you got the SX60 for it's increased range.

I did not like the SX700.  Image quality was dicey at best.  The SX60, at least my copy, is far superior.

I, initially, got the SX60 for the EVF.  The extra reach was a secondary benefit.

As much as I'm pleased with the SX60, the new G3X is catching my attention for the what should be better low light performance.  That is one area where the 7D + 17-55 f2.8 outperforms the SX60.

BTW, did you take a cruise and if so, which ship were you on?

Drove up and back 10,355 miles round trip.  I'm not a cruiser.  Unfortunately, we had about 4 days of rain for every 1 sunny day in AK, YT and BC; and the day cruise we had scheduled for the Kenai Fjords NP got cancelled due to the weather.

Wow! That's a lot of miles! This was my first cruise and now I'd love to go back and spend a lot more time in each of the places we visited. Quite a bit of rain for us too, but we did see Denali in all of its glory with no clouds obscuring the view, and quite a bit of wildlife.

Re: SX60 and EOS 7D.

Thanks for the SX700 feedback.

I agree that the G3X looks tempting.... if only it had a built in viewfinder.

The SX700 does not have one either, and there's no option to add one.
