I got the EOS 600D a few years ago as an upgrade to my 350D. It was on offer with the spare battery and infra red remote.
The bigger articulated screen is a major plus, and live view and video are very useful.
Stayed within the Canon system as I had lenses, accessories and flash. I actually only use the Sigma 70-300mm and Canon EF 50mm 1.8 II lens from my previous camera, plus the wired remote, wireless remote. The Sigma flash did not work properly with 600D, so I bought a Nissin flash.
I also bought a couple of extra lenses - Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS II, and Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 OS, adding more image stabilized lens to the kit.
In operation the camera takes very good pictures. The focus is fine in most conditions. I also like the lens peripheral correction, but this is only works with Canon lenses.
The live view is great but the focusing is slow and gets worse the lower the light. For video work manual focus is the way to go, and this eliminates hunting and motor noise for pre STM lenses.
There is a work around using auto focus in live view - 'Quick mode'. The camera use the normal focus system then takes the picture. If you press the shutter it takes an initial picture as a focus check which you can view or by holding the shutter just continue to capture the image. This is useful when using the articulated screen at awkward angles. Remember, this is for photos! Videos stuck with manual focus with crop zoom assist, or hunting focus.
The actual video quality is very good and the sound is good even though it is mono. There is the option for stereo microphone.
The live view AF short comings will put off some, if they don't explore the camera and find the solutions. New STM lenses, plus lens with bright aperture help with the focus speed, but the 650D/700D are better, especially for video.
Battery life is good and with a spare I have no worries.
I have since added the EOS 700D with some STM lenses to my kit, but I still use this camera.
Recently I have been to car shows and used both cameras with an ultra wide lens on the 700D and the fast Sigma lens on this camera. It saved time on lens swapping.
A good camera with room for improvements.
