Good inexpensive kit telephoto zoom lens

I bought this lens a few years ago after I bought my EOS 600D. I bought this to compliment the kit lens that came with the camera.

The lens works well and it is light compared to the Sigma 70-300 lens I still own. The fact that it is image stabilized is a major plus.

The focus works well and does not hunt as much as the Sigma. It is not as noisy, but there is the STM version which as a few advantages - quiet focus especially when shooting videos, slightly closer focus, and improved performance. This mk2 is now a lot cheaper since STM has been introduced so a bargain if you don't want to pay extra for the STM version.
