m4/3 e-shutter distortion vs. Nikon V1
3

I've used the V1 and learned to love the e-shutter, so, that I'll never have a camera without it.  It also converted me to mirrorless cameras and stimulated me to move toward m4/3 with a G6.  For the most part, I like the camera very much, to the point I plan to make m4/3 my only system.  One feature I miss is a high-speed e-shutter and the fast read-out speed of the V1.

For comparison, here a 3 shots to display the distortion from the G6 vs. the V1.  Quite dramatic.

My question: How much better are the G7, GX8 or top Olympus cameras?

FYI, I've tried to duplicate panning to photograph a passing automobile at 35-40MPH (@ 60kph) at a distance of 30 feet (@9 meters).

As one can see, the Nikon V1 has amazingly little distortion when considering how quickly the shot was panned.  (Truthfully, I have yet to notice it in any shots taken over the several years I've used it.  And, it was the first generation of the sensor!)  Unfortunately, that isn't true with the G6.

Yes, the G6 has a mechanical shutter, as virtually all similar cameras have.    However, I want a camera, preferably a m4/3 camera, with similar e-shutter performance to the older V1.

Does the G7/GX8 have decidedly better sensor read-out speed (less distortion) than earlier models?  Can they rival the old V1?

I would appreciate any examples someone could post of static vs. panned e-shutter.

Best regards,

Warren
