G9 Photos in Response to advice back in Feb
3

Back in February and March of this year I sought advice on using a G9.  Specifically the question was JPGs or RAW?  and Why?

GeraldW and Skippy Belmont provided the reasons for shooting JPGs with the G9.  There were several others who also advocated JPGs.  I'm back from India.  Thanks to all of you I shot JPGs.  Yes, there were some poor shot, but that was my fault.  Here are several examples of the photos I took.  They have not been PP'd; however, they are reduced in size.

Nice work, good images. Only the street scene stands out negatively because of its composition that is not up to the standards of the other images. You have some PP work to do to correct tilt.

I cropped your "Street Scene" and cloned out the sleeve intruding in the right side.

There were some blown highlights that I corrected with -2/3 exposure.

Hope you don't mind, but you had all the elements for a great image so I took the liberty.

Something to keep in mind is Canon has a bundled program titled Photo Stitch. So if you can't get into a position to capture the entire image you can piece it together. Specifically I'm referring to the image of Jain Temple.

I usually set my exposure compensation to -1/3 and that seems to be standard with Canon, at least the several I've owned.

Thanks to each of you for your comments.

I don't know why, but I tend to take many photos at an angle.

And thanks OzarkAggie for PPing the Street Scene photo.  Thanks for noting the blown highlights and for fixing them. By the way Exposure Compensation was set to -1/3, so you pulled it back a good amount.

The G9 was a loaner.  I didn't want to carry the DSLR with lenses this time--and it was a good thing because of the heat and humidity.  I took most of the photos with the G9, but I had my S90 as a backup.
