rx100 m1,2,3,4: Outline of Feature Differences

Courtesy of new forum member Bebear, from another thread, a concise list of differences:

"I took the time to research DPreview and Sony's websites and compiled what you gain on each upgrade and I wanted to share":

RX100 mk2 from RX100:

+ Updated sensor (BSI)
+ WiFi
+ Hot shoe
+ 24p video
+ Tilting LCD
+ Active OSS
+ Improved AF speed

RX100 mk3 from RX100 mk2:

+ Updated processor (Bionz X)
+ Pop-up viewfinder
+ Clean HDMI output + 4k photo playback
+ Video recording with full sensor readout
+ XAVC-S 50Mbps
+ 3-stop ND filter
+ Downloadable apps
+ Better tilting LCD (180/45 vs 90/40)
+ 720p120
+ Extra-fine JPEG mode
+ White-Balance Bracketing

(+/-) Different lens (24-70mm instead of 28-100mm)

- Loss of hot shoe

RX100 mk4 from RX100 mk3:

+ Improved AF Speed
+ Updated sensor (stacked)
+ Updated pop-up viewfinder
+ Max shutter speed (1/32000 vs 1/2000)
+ Faster continuous drive (16fps vs 10fps)
+ 5-minute Direct 4k movie @ 100Mbps
+ 1080p120 @ 60Mbps
+ S-Log2 gamma video
+ Super slow motion
+ Eye AF
+ Dual-Rec still shooting while recording video

..........................

The lens switch between Mk2 and Mk3 was as such:

RX100 Mk2: 28-100 (f1.8-f4.9)

RX100 Mk3: 24-70 (f1.8-f2.8)

There's a nice graph in the dpreview's RX100 Mk3 review showing the aperture across the focal length:http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/sony-cybershot-dsc-rx100-m3

From the graph, it looks like the Mk2 lens is better only between 28 and 33mm. At 70mm, the RX100 Mk3 lens provides a significantly wider aperture than the Mk2.

The lens change has been controversial at best, which is why I didn't consider it a plus or a minus on my change list above.

Would suggest editing to change "better" to "faster" when referring to the two lenses (minor point).
