Thanks, i thinking about it too. But for this case i need to use some MF or LF lens i.e. Schneider 80mm f/5.6 Apo Digitar M.

For now i don't have such a kind of lens. For now i have only modern lenses with electronic aperture and with moving lens assembly where i need to have lens on body.

You can use old lenses from an enlarger like these: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xenlarger+lens.TRS0&_nkw=enlarger+lens&_sacat=0

Lenses like the Schneider you mention are not very suitable as they are much less sharp per square mm than normal FF lenses, you need a really big 'sensor' (film) to use them successfully.

You'll need a bellows too: http://www.ebay.com/sch/Lens-Adapters-Mounts-Tubes/30059/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=bellows+camera or you can make something yourself.

Re: CNC macro rail

Yep, it will be definitely some my own solution. But someday... manana.

____

Mentioned Schneider has only 80mm image circle (at 1:1 magnification i expect)

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/468642-REG/Schneider_03_017942_80mm_f_5_6_Apo_Digitar.html

so it is not so large - but in case of 3D movements of DSLR it would be better with larger image circle than only about 44mm covering FF sensor .... on the other hand this lens was example only

Re: CNC macro rail

Today i tried create small application:

and now i am processing images from this movie:

https://youtu.be/KFqQAy6kfbU

Here is the result for tonight:

Next test (maybe tomorrow night) will be with changed application that there will be slow coherent motion (only one HTTP REST call) with simultaneous exposures in concrete interval. I expect setting with recording to CF (no online downloading RAWs to PC - it is slow) with 0.5s between each exposure....

...ok, application is modified on both side (C# on PC and C on Raspberry too) and works thanks to sending space for starting exposure to the EOS utility only once per second. So i slowed down the movement to 100 steps per second for this purpose. The test with some subject comes later.

There is some small progress which is on the side of Win app. I am preparing new version based on WPF:

And one new stack. But it is very huge crop (about 6 Mpx from 30 Mpx source).

Re: CNC macro rail

Some small progress, Canon SDK is included in my windows WPF app, already added functions: Detection of camera, exposure setting, LiveView, Test shot.

(test are directly downloaded to HDD, real shots will be stored on CF/SD for faster writing and downloaded at the end by button to other folder than test shots)

Fantastic photos in your previous entries, very interesting build. Will I have to come to Czech Republic to get one of your custom CNC rails?

Cheers, James
