About the cam

I have it for some time now and have to say that it's perfect.

The focus the shooting range and all is just perfect.

I use the 18-55 IS II Kit and for landscape it's just again perfect.

Re: About the cam

It's a decent little rig. Coupled with good glass and proper exposure it is able to provide quite good IQ

Re: About the cam

It's a good little camera isn't it?

It's a few years old now but i've never seen anyone really say anything very bad about it, it must be one of Canon's best cameras made at this level. Personally I have found some minor negatives/shortcomings with it but I don't think there are/were many other DSLRs that fared any better in the same price-range. It's also a good small size with a good ergonomic feel. First with the touchscreen too!

This is why i'm finding it so difficult to choose an upgrade from it because it's so capable! To find a [Canon] body that gives a significant improvement in image quality requires a huge spending jump! True the next level of DSLR add better/more features but is the IQ really so much better? Some weather sealing would be lovely though...

I also got it with the 18-55mm IS II kit lens. Not until u have other lenses do you realise how light and small this lens is! IQ is good, though even i did notice the barrel distortion on the wide end, but not always. The biggest issue with this lens for me though was just how noisy the focus motor was! Argh, just embarrasing - i couldn't believe they made such a noisy lens in this day & age! Anyway the focus of the lens is now malfunctioning (it seems to get stuck), doesn't matter anyway as i've moved on from it.

I have gotten some really nice portraits with it too - more than acceptable! Using the EF 50mm f/1.4 USM and even more so with the EF 100mm f/2.8L macro lens!

I wish i could know how many shutter actuations my 650D has done because i have the feeling it's near it's estimated lifespan....
