1. Prime lenses from 50mm and up on APS-C are not much smaller than full frame lenses with adaptor. Maybe it is more practical to use full frame lenses for those focal distances.

A native 50mm lens could easily be 10mm shorter than the EF lens on an adapter.  That is a significant difference.   Lens adapters are a pain.  They should be the exception, not the rule

2. Prime lenses 40mm and below do not produce good bokeh even wide open. What is point in them? For low light? But zoom lenses are well stabilized and can be used in low light quite well.

Bokeh is a function of the lens designers priorities and has no relation to focal length.  IS only counteracts your motions.  It does nothing to stop the motions of your subject.  IS also tends to negatively impact bokeh.

I wanted prime lenses for M very much when I purchased my first M. But now I am not so sure that they make any sense.

3. Existing Zoom lenses cover all my needs when I need to zoom.

I did vote in your poll, but if you had option "I don't need more new lenses for M", I would vote for it.

While that is a perfectly reasonable opinion, I am pretty sure it would represent a very small minority.

Everything you said is true. But benefits of more lenses are not tremendous. For me M is a small cute complimentary camera for camping trips and vacations. When you need serious pictures and need serious primes, I would take full frame anyway. 6D is almost $1,000 new and will be even less soon. Full frame + primes difference is more tremendous. See prices for Fuji primes. You can have FF camera with primes for less and have much better results. Of course even 4/3 cameras have primes, but they are more for enthusiasts. I am not sure who represents "a very small minority". I can be wrong here. Thank you for your time to reply.

I too would like to have something like a 55 2 pancake-ish lens on the M for just one reason - to go to concerts with it. They allow small "fixed lens" cameras here, so I would be able to sneak in an M with a pancake but 22 is too short. it would be a great addition to the 22/2 as well. Other than this - I don't want to spend any more money on the M system - it's a waste of money and not to be taken seriously. The M is capable of taking good pictures but it's a pain to use with the slow AF and other limitations.

However Canon won't make any more primes for the M system with today's DSLR vs MILC sales figures.

They´re killing themselves. Today´s MILC sales figures are poor because manufacturers don´t deliver good or complete systems.

A native ef-m prime between 40mm to 100mm which is fater than f/2.8 has been what I'd love to have for my M system from the day I purchased it.

I'm also hesitant to put more money in the M system as I don't see Canon serious on this system.

At the end the choice of a prime focal length comes down to the specific application the user has for it.

Besides that, for the M mostly the primes that can be made compact, low weight and benefit from the shorter back-focus distance would make more sense.

Hence I voted for 15mm but would prefer 12mm

My other choice would be a 50mm for Portrait and other stuff

30mm would be great too but is close to the 22mm

53mm f/2 Pancake

I would like a 53/2 pancake lens to compliment the 22/2.  I don't see why it has to be a 50 instead of a 53, as 53 is closer to the 85mm equiv.

22-32-52-62 line looks better

Re: 53mm f/2 Pancake

As long as it had nice bokeh for portraits, I would be happy with anything from 50mm to 60mm (80mm to 96mm equivalent).

22, 31, 53 and 78 would be better (35.2, 49.6, 84.8 and 134.4).

Yeah, but that one milimeter is not gonna do much, and the numbers look better. Anyway it could still be 22-31-53, called 22-32-52, and noone would find the difference in real life.

15-80 F4 would be perfect for me - assuming the quality is there
