Wondering If My 330 HS May Be Going Bad

I've had my ELPH 330 HS for a little over a year, and I've been very pleased with the image quality, both indoors and out. I t's even been to an outdoor concert, and performed well for a little, compact  P&S.

Lately, however, I'm not getting the sharp images that I used to get, and I'm wondering if it's starting to go downhill.

Here are two shots that I took earlier today. The first was taken using "P" Mode with Brian's suggested settings. The second, was taken on Auto. They were taken just a little time apart, different dogs, but the same spot on the couch.

I've noticed that when I have my camera set to "P" Mode, that I get a flashing red camera icon in the lower left corner that I don't get when it's set to Auto.

P.S. I forgot to mention, these are SOOC, just resized.

That's the camera telling you that the shutter speed is so slow you're likely to get a blurry image due to movement. Looking at your EXIF, that's a realistic assessment.

Honestly, P mode doesn't really work well indoors, in my opinion, unless you manually set the ISO to a high enough value. An awareness of aperture, shutter speed and ISO is a guide to what you can expect when pressing the shutter release.

You say your images aren't as sharp as before. Is this also outdoors in good light? Have you checked if the lens is clean?

In P mode have you got ISO set to AUTO, for some reason it used ISO80 in that low light situation, causing a very slow shutter speed, whereas AUTO mode used ISO800.

That flashing icon was probably warning about camera shake due to the extremely slow shutter speed.

I would also cleck the lens cleanliness.

Thanks Brian, and thanks to you, too, Mark. I was hoping it was just a setting off somewhere. I thought I had my ISO set to Auto, but I guess not. I'm really quite fond of this little camera, and I'd hate to think I'd have to give it up. Although I am planning on getting an SX50 while they're still on sale.
