NX1 is on top but I have ordered ...NX30...

I know NX1 is great but in my country is very poor offering of this model.

My NX10 has been sold after 5 years of using (never problems or issues experienced) so I must to replace it with a newer model of course NX (lens I have) and I just ordered NX30 camera with kit lens + pancake 16/2,4 - small size (as total)  is important for me but evf also "must have".

I red some reviews they are nor exciting but in general  it is good because price dropped down very much and I think NX30 can not be worse than NX10 (NX11 FW)

The price will be about 500 Euro for set so very acceptable for me

(NX1 price - ~2000 Euro for body only !!!)

I think NX30 willl be OK for one two years then we will see but if NX30 will be OK it can be a spare body to not change lenses (sometimes very useful thing).

In many reviews is written that NX30 is noisier than competition but after my investigations I can see something different.....

OK You probably want to  know why I write about it - simply I would like to get konow with NX30's users opinions subjective too and to find out about tricks and tips if they are for this model.

The NX 30 is a real sleeper. It is very small, but loaded with features. The articulating screen is marvelous. The controls are well thought out. Especially like the small rotary control that lets you directly select multiple exposure modes.

The pricing of the NX 30 at this time really makes this a very good buy!

NX30 is a fantastic camera. Grip is excellent for larger lenses (I have 60 and 85) but the whole package remains discreet with smaller lenses (I have 16 and 30).

The articulated screen makes it ideal for macro while the articulated viewfinder makes it great for street shooting (framing as if you were using a Rolleiflex). The sensor is by far less noisy than the one in NX10. Ah and the touchscreen is a pure marvel. All in all, NX30 is a very nice upgrade form NX10.

To be honest, menus were more intuitive in NX10, the camera looked more solid (NX30 feels less "dense" somehow) and in NX30, the creative filters you can apply in-camera (before sending to someone's smartphone, for instance) are just useless (who the hell use oil painting effect ? I'd prefer some nice b&w filters...).

I know articulated EVF is very useful - I have one on compact LX7 - optional great viewfinder but very expensive (ca 225$) and it rotates 0-90 degrees

In the sun for macro it helps very often  for choosing a convenient position.

I think also using camera on tripod is more comfortable with EVF rotated up.

Rotated screen I experienced in compact Canon S3 some tim ago I think it is good for protecting screen or in situations when camera I must keep much above my head (concert etc).

This is the point - I compared to Fuji XT-1 and I got conclusion that in this price I can buy NX camera and two decent lens. ( I plan to buy portrait 85/F1,4 as first)

More atractive is Sony A6000 but system lens are not.

Additional reason to stay in NX is super 30/F2 I like very much. (I have one of the first copies made in Korea)

Together with 16/2,4 is great combo for trips small and light no bag required!

Many people claims that Fuji is superior in jpg mode and noise level, but I did my own investigation and IMO this low noise is fine detail free, so no problem to achieve such result in RAW post processing .

I know jpg engine of NX is not perfect but IMO  jpg's from every camera are not perfect.

(Sometimes in some conditions they can be super but another time not)

I thin one two years I will update to NX1 or maybe NX2 - who knows:)

Actually, I don't remember a formware update for NX30 loaded whith groundbreaking new features (I'd love a firmware update enabling compatibility with a remote studio app but I feel like Samsung is focussing on providing serious updates to NX1 users only).

About firmware I mean stable working - huntings free and precise AF.

Sometimes newer FW has new features but spoils good things.

NX10 I finished on NX11 FW

The question is also about spare accu and charger.

I cannot imagine a charging in camera. I always charge in separate charger.

How many pictures is possible to take with NX30?

NX10 sometimes took over 800 !

Did you buy from the Samsung store (1499 PLN for the NX30 + 18-55mm)? They are running a fire sale now: NX mini and NX lenses are also almost half their normal price. Samsung Poland also are not distributing any NX1 nor NX500 officially, which leaves me wondering whether they abandoned selling NX cameras in Poland altogether? That's a similar story to the one recently reported in the US.

I saw this offer but it was to late, zero cameras on stock, no I ordered in another shop.

With theirs prices range the competition looks better and CANIKON DSLR rulez.

NX1 price now is not competitive to Sony A7R or Canon 7d Mk2 (but it is in USA).

NX1 and NX500 are being imported via non-official channels by few local retailers.

I wonder what happened to Samsung's distribution chains? This isn't helping to build any confidence in NX system - should I rather jump ship or face paying hefty extras for imported stuff in the future? Is NX going to be a Korea-only brand if NX1 doesn't get more traction?

We also had some people from the UK telling us that large retailers have had clearance sales a few weeks ago. How is it at the moment, is there any stock of NX1, NX500, NX lenses etc. in high street shops?

I am considering either a 2nd NX30 or a NX1, but I hesitate to invest into Samsung as in Austria the NX1 is not available and most stores do not stock Samsung or have the Samsung range on sale. At first I thought that Samsung is not interested into the Austrian market at it is a small one but if the situation is similar in bigger countries, too I wonder if it is like in the past when Samsung abandoned a range when they did not meet their target.

Yesterday I did FW upgrades for body and lenses and did some trials.

First impressions:

White 16/2,4 looks grat with black body:)

I changed lenses few times and camera caught a small piece of dust, I switched on sensor cleaning - dust vanished after some cykles.

Fortunately both kit lens and pancake are razor sharp no decentering issue.

I tried some sport action photos in the evening on high ISO (50-200 is slow) but on FW 1.1 and when the shutter time was short enough AF worked well.

In comparison to NX10 first not good impression was... evf - I thought it will be much better than it is. This evf seems blurred and small it is difficult even to evaluate the picture sharpness.

Optional LVF2 I have to Panasonic LX7/GX1 is much better.

NX10's EVF 5 years ago was not bad!

What is better? AF speed in darker conditions after 1.31 FW upgrading works very fast - similar to daylight conditions!

Manual focusing much much better - 5x-8x magnifying together with focus peaking.

jpg quality quite OK of course better than NX10 but 1 picture takes ca 10 MB!

It is 50% of srw!

But compression sometimes is high I discovered issues on trial bulb picture - shadowing was not OK (color borders visible)- for sunsets etc can be necessary to use raw.

NX30 body is much bigger than NX10 -I liked NX10 size a lot.

OK grip is OK more convenient for tele using but with pancace camera is not so compact as NX10 was.

One good point I observed is very bright pictures.

It means ISO of NX30 does not equal many other cameras

Usualy NX30 needs lower ISO than competition (or older NX10 maybe NX20) or it will be possible to use EV correction -1 for action shots where shutter time is important.

In general very good deal there is not camera on such level in such price.

I stilll have money for next lenses or maybe an NX20 second hand as a second body for pancakes only.

Pancakes are the reason to keep NX.

The quality of evf in nx30 and the look of the camera are the two factors that made me hate it at first sight. The evf is really terrible, imo. Small and with lots of rainbow effect. Low quality, imo, perhaps to make itntiltable, dunno.

Nx1's evf and look are much much better.

I do not see any rainbow effect but I thinh the eye point is wrong a little.

I have direct comparison to LVF2 from Panasonic and this is much better .

But from other side LVF2 I 've paid ca220$ so it is very expensive.

I get used to a litlle - I discovere that turning off overblowing indication helps with vf reaction.

Camera lokk for me is nice together with white 16/F2,4 IMO beautiful modern camera a little Canon like.

Zoom 50-200 also look nice.

NX1 is great but 4 times more expensive so I prefer to buy some lenses and better body later.

NX30 pq is OK for me. (I require good 4k presence for slide show on tv 4k)

I am happy that both 16/F2,4 and kit lens 18-55 are very sharp.

It seems that I was too quick in drawing conclusions.

The sale is over now and all items are magically back in stock, even the discontinued NX30 and NX300! What good is a sale with no items on stock?

NX1 and NX500 are still not available in the official Polish Samsung store.
