To me, the most interesting part of G7 is the pricing.

If I buy the brand new G7, it would be silly to not use it as a chance to get the 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 bundle for $1,097. In the U.S., this lens has never been part of a factory bundle and has maintained a pretty consistent $549 price tag, and even at that price, I've considered the lens. Now, if I also buy a 42.5mm f/1.7 OIS at the same time, another lens I probably would have considered purchasing at the full price, then there's a $200 discount that kicks in, making that lens $197.99. So the total would come out to $1,295.98.

It's hard to call $1,295.98 a bargain but when you consider that you get a superb superzoom (w/ OIS), a camera that has DFD and shoots excellent 4K, and a great little OIS portrait lens, for that money, it actually starts to feel like a good deal, one of the better values that new MFT cameras have given us in a while. It's not quite the steal that $299 for an E-PL6 is, but at least it takes the FZ1000 or RX10 out of the running for me.

And it's not just about 4K video and stills for me. Since I'm in the U.S.A., AVCHD, which is kind of awful and outdated but still pretty easy to use in Final Cut and other such programs, allows me to exceed the usual 30 minute recording time limit, so that will allow me to tape music practices and concerts at 1080p, meaning it replaces a camcorder for me, too.

For me, G7 is not a question of if, but when I will buy it. It will perfectly complement my E-M5 II, in that combined, they have all the strengths of both sides of the MFT standard.

Completley agree. But I already have the 14-140,so I didn't go that route

You may wish to check how long the $100 / $200 off offer goes - I thought I saw until June 3rd but not sure about that

The G7 bundle offer, which includes the camera and one of two basic lenses, and offers a bunch more lenses for $200 off, expires on July 4, 2015 according to B&H.  I ordered mine with the 14-140mm and tossed in the finicky 100-300mm for grins.  I can't wait to get it.  Latest B&H description said it would be available June 19, which is a day before my birthday; Happy B-day to me!!!

Cheers,

Gary
