Strange Ricoh Auto Rikenon 55mm f/1.4 Lens. No M42 Mount

I picked up this Ricoh lens at a flea market this morning. I don't know much about older lenses, but I was looking up about this lens and the lens I bought seems to be different. I'm having trouble figuring out what mount it is mainly. I've been searching through types of mounts and can't seem to place it. Any insights would be appreciated!

The black mount seems to be a bit lose like I can pull it out a bit but not completely. I don't feel like forcing it though because it seems to be secure in some way. I hope this is the correct forum.

That looks like the standard lens for the original Ricoh Singlex (also sold as the Nikon Nikkorex F). If so, it should be in Nikon F mount, with automatic diaphragm but no meter coupling.

Thank you for the reply. I checked it out and I guess the Ricoh Singlex actually has a slightly different mount than the Nikon F so one has to shave a bit of metal off in order for it to fit. I'll try to get an adapter for my Canon and see what I can do.

Yes, you're right – the mount is slightly different, though Nikon lenses fitted the Singlex. I seem to remember that this was done so that Nikon F owners couldn't buy the lens as a cheap alternative to the Nikkor equivalent. It might be easier to shave a little off an adapter rather than the lens, as many of these are made from quite soft material.

Hi All, how is this particular lens performing. Kindly advise how many aperture bladed does it have. I'm trying to Google and not able to get definitive article on this particular chrome Rikenon. I just purchased it thinking that it has 9 aperture bladed. Because it was not very clear on the photos. I hope you can help. Will be using it for Sony a6000. Seller has a PK to Nex mount adapter on it.

What are your impressions after using this lens?

I bought one and I wait for it to ship.

I know about the Rikenon 55mm f/1.4 lenses and their performance.

I hope that this version is as good as the later M42 models.

Nice photos!

I received mine a month ago and I did some shooting!

What a suprise!

Although it is a bit soft wide open it is an amazing lens! I have ordered a dandelion chip to chip the lens and make it fully usable with my Nikon bodies, because the lens is not AI compatible.

With aperture closed to f/4.0- f/5.6 sharpness is jaw dropping!!!!

I took a portrait of my son with my D610 and I could sea hair by hair detail and all the small details on his face!

Bokeh is amazing but I still prefer more my Helios 81n's bokeh and colour rendering is absolutely amazing!

My copy was in a surprisingly excellent condition with slight colour wear on the focusing ring, super clear glass elements and perfect function feel.

I paid 260€ shipping included, which is a lot, but condition was absolutely great!

Only negative thing is that elements are yellow because of thoriated rear elements but I will buy at sometime a UV lamp to de-yellow it.

I've made some excellent photos until now and I just love this lens!

After enquiring in my own post ,FrancoD was kind enough to point me to your link ,Stressman. I have just bought the Mamiya/Nikon Richoh F Singlex because it will accept my Nikon F mount lenses. But , I also would like to try the Rikenon 55  on my Nikon Digital body ; could you please help with a description or process of how  /where you shaved the flanges?

I appreciate any insight.

I've had the Ricoh Singlex F for some years and have always intended to make its lens fit Nikon bodies. On close examination, it's nothing more than that one of the three fixing shoulders is slightly longer than the Nikon one.

I will be Dremelling soon...

I tried  looking at the proposed fit, and decided I should get the calipers out to measure and perhaps scribe some lines, because it looks like more than a little bit has to come off the Rikenon.

Without trying it yet, my first thought would be to use patience and a jeweler's file.
I'll post when I have time to sort it out.
