70-300 IS DO

Hi Clark:

70-300 IS DO image quality has been very good on full-frame and OK on crop frame bodies in my work.  Its main value is that it is very small, very tough and unobtrusive - few people notice it, its easy to carry, tolerates abuse and has effective IS.

Its my first choice for very light travel and discreet street photography from a distance.  This lens can get the shot when other more bulky and obvious gear is just impractical and I love it in that capacity.

I rarely use it for sports or formal events - not its strong point - but there are exceptions where I've used it in a pinch with acceptable results.

Some light sharpening on images from this lens helps and I usually stretch the contrast too, but nothing that involved is really needed.  On the flip side, its not the brightest, sharpest and most contrasty lens, either.  There are better choices if you can afford the weight and attention at a particular task.

Jay
