NX-Mini mount register distance

Dear Memebers,

I am trying to use some legacy lenses on the NX Mini there however is no adapter available. Going the way with the NX-M to NX adapter followed by an N M42 adapter seems absurd to me, let alone the price for the NX-M NX adapter which is nearly as much as the NX Mini itself.

Does anyone know the flange/register distance fo the NX-Mini mount? I meausred it to be approx. 6,5mm using the sensor plane marking on the bottom of the NX mini.

The register distance of the the NX mount is 25,5mm, in theory the NX-M register should be 25,5mm minus the depth of the adapter. There seems to be no information available on this. The specs on Samsungs website can't be used as it is the overall depth, the protrusion of the tripod mount included

Cheers

There's a long and very interesting thread on NX Mini adapters here:

Hi,

US price is ~$120... it's not cheap... but ~half the price of the Pentax K for Q adapter !

I tried to find a direct T2 adapter for the NX-Mini... but I can't !

The French importer doesn't understand the usefulness of the MA4NXM ... !?!?

so I bought one in Germany for €133 + the T2 Adapter for NX mount €20 !

.

Does anyone know the flange/register distance fo the NX-Mini mount? I meausred it to be approx. 6,5mm using the sensor plane marking on the bottom of the NX mini.

.

~6.5mm is the distance from the IR-Cut filter (+1mm) to the mount

Thickness of the MA4NXM adapter is 18mm, so the NX-Mini BF/flange/register is 7.5mm

Thickness of the T2 Adapter for NX mount is 29.5mm !

it's useful to know : many web sellers show 9.54mm T2 adapters for NX

/!\ these are Pentax K T2 adapters : these two brands have shared the same K mount !

The register distance of the NX mount is 25,5mm, in theory the NX-M register should be 25,5mm minus the depth of the adapter. There seems to be no information available on this. The specs on Samsungs website can't be used as it is the overall depth, the protrusion of the tripod mount included

geo444,

that is amazing information, thank you!

That is pretty much what I try to achieve with my C9.25 8-), I already have removed te IR Cut filter from my NX Mini.

Does "remote viewfinder" with the Samsung app work when you have the T2 adapter on it with your telescope or legacy lenses? I do get a "check lens" error ....

Best regards

Hi Fannta !

that is amazing information, thank you!
That is pretty much what I try to achieve with my C9.25,
I already have removed te IR Cut filter from my NX Mini.

Removing the IR-Cut filter from the Nx mini is a very good thing to do !
Hope to see your AstroPhotos with the C9.25 soon...

Does "Remote Viewfinder" with the Samsung app work when you have the T2 adapter on it with your telescope or legacy lenses? I do get a "check lens" error ....

I didn't use "Remote Viewfinder" with my Nx mini, so I searched on the internet for some useful information... but I couldn't find anything of interest for the moment, sorry...

Waiting for the remote release cable from JJC for my Timer Remote Switch from XCSource (has every cable for Canon... NiKon... Pentax... Sony... but not the SR2NX02 cable for Samsung Nx !!)
To release the shutter of my Nx mini, I managed a sort of " Lollipop Stick Trigger " :
take a look here : www.chassimages.com/forum/index.php/topic,238330.0.html

the whole Story, from the 1st AstroPhotos with the Nx mini as sold :

Nice macros and planes on your site !!

I've read that you got a Nx mini... you already had the T2 adapter...
so now, you just need to get the Ma4NxM adapter
and you'll be a long reach man !

I already have removed te IR Cut filter from my NX Mini.

Hi, I wonder if you still have that IR Cut filter or know the exact dimensions. I need to know the exact dimensions of that filter. Here, in my country, I can't find infrared filters specific to a camera, so I have to buy one and then cut it into the right size, before the disassembly of the camera. Thank you!

Hi siamak_86 !

Yes, I did keep it in a safe place... but where ?
... will try to find it back tomorrow, then post its dimensions.
Then will add them on my page :

The exact dimensions of the NX-mini's original IR-cut Filter :
- Height : 14.5 mm
- Width = 18.3 mm
- Thickness : 0.6 mm

Re: ... Samsung NX mini : First Light at prime focus...

Thank you for your help. I hope you find it.

I'm actually interested in IR landscape photography. I already have a D3300 whose IR-cut filter has been removed. However, it isn't so convenient to use. I can't carry it everywhere. After I shoot a photo, when the live-view is on, it is really slow to get ready for the next shot.

The information on your blog persuaded me to choose this little camera for doing IR photography. I guess it's a good camera for this purpose as its electronic shutter will be a plus.

Great! Thank you so much. Now, I will start converting it.

By the way, I bought my NX Mini, with 9mm lens, for just 139 US dollar, and the big surprise is that it was brand new! I opened the box myself.

I think the NX-mini is The Camera to carry everytime, everywhere,

With what type of Filter will you replace its IR-cut ?

$139 a brand new NX-mini with a Top performance BSI sensor ?
... Congratulations siamak !

Would be very happy to see your IR-photos...

I would replace it with a 590nm filter if it were available here. There are only 680nm and 720nm. I'll choose 680.

Hi siamak !

Are the results as good as you hoped for with the 680 nm filter ?

Hi friend.

Actually, I've postponed it because I haven't found a good service for cutting these delicate pieces of glass, but I'll surely alert you when I do that.

At the moment, I'm shooting IR photos with my D3300 with 680nm IR filter. Here is one photo I'm in.

And I use the NX Mini to take normal photos, but I sometimes make them unusually coloured, like the following.

Here is the normal photo.

I especially appreciate the #3 and #4 photos which show that Deep Blue Sky !

Thank you for the compliment. They were shot without any filter, hence full spectrum. The photos were hard to process, yet not so beautiful.

Re: ... Samsung NX mini : First Light at prime focus...

Hi Geo 🖐️

I finally removed the IR-cut filter from my NX mini, but before that I bought another one.

So now I have one full spectrum and one normal NX mini.

I didn't test it in a lab, but after the removal of the filter, the camera seems to have become sharper!

I find that surprising because it is hard for the lens to correct chromatic aberrations, which is challenging for full spectrum photography. I shot a few indoor photos, but at the first moment, I thought it might be because there was no infrared light inside. However, there was IR light inside the room, because I needed to correct the white balance to get rid of the red color all over the photo.

Anyway, I'm just curious to experience the removal of the protective glass of the 9mm lens and use a DIY cap instead. It's so bad when the sun is in the frame that it almost completely ruins the entire shot with VERY bad flare/ghosting. I guess the protective glass is to be blamed.

So I wonder if I can have your comment. I also thoroughly searched in the internet but nothing could I find about any tutorial on doing that.

Thanks 😊

Good ! So now, you can confirm the Full-Spectrum is +/- 1.3 EV more sensitive !

Surprising ! Maybe Your NX-mini's AF worked better inside Your lighting conditions ?

I fully agree with all that.

I think that's some useless pain ! For a few $ you'll find a 9-27 which is much sharper :

Please forgive me : my first macro shots at f/7 without a viewfinder !

With some luck, a rare and Sharp 17mm f/1.8 OIS is available !

Thanks 😊
