Gonna stick to this cam

It took me about 2 months to decide a new camera. I am very pleased with almost everything. Some things could be better, but that stands for every camera on the market. GX7 is easy going in ergonomics, weight, ui, image quality. The only thing I would complian about, is that it can be hard to operate with one hand.

Re: Gonna stick to this cam

What is wrong with your other hand, or (more likely), what are you doing with your other hand while operating the camera?

(Sorry for the intruding question, but you left this issue very unclear in your posting. Most people can use both hands while operating the camera. Unfortunately, physical disabilities (or temporary issues with a hand) can make camera operation difficult, but I would not think there are major differences between cameras in this respect. That's why I thought you have some very specific applications in which your other hand cannot be used for camera operation.)

Ok. I am not disabled, I am a so called streetphotographer. Sometimes you need to be fast, and then a one hand operation can be good. The problem with this cam (and some others) is that you easily can touch a buttom or the touchscreen by mistake, when all your handling is with one hand. You have to be easy on the grip.

Well in my case hanging on for dear life to the rigging while leaning over the side of the boat for that special shot.

Point is that while one handed operation is not perhaps a daily requirement, there are times when it is a real benefit. This is just one of the areas the m43 can extend your photo opportunities a bit compared to larger kit.

For me the increased range of useability of m43 more than makes up for the drawbacks.

e.g., to hold the external battery + LED light as a off camera constant light source for video and still in the dark ...
