Grainy images using NX300 with adapted Nikon 55-200mm lens

I recently got an NX300 and could not be happier with it. Since my husband has a Nikon 3200 and no use for his 55-200 I decided to get an adapter to use it with my NX. Not knowing what I was doing I got an adapter that does not have the aperture control on it so I had to use a piece of paper to hold open the lever. I have a fully open aperture now which allows me to get in the light I need and I can take some beautiful outdoor shots with it, but when I zoom in to 1:1 ratio in Lightroom they are always noisy and grainy. I am finding it hard to get a balance between keeping the ISO low and the Shutter speed high enough to not be blurry with it zoomed out to 200.

Is this normal? Is this because the aperture is jammed open? Any advice on what settings I might use?

Here is an example

If you use any Lens at 200mm or more to shot distant objects you Will find some grain. It us the rumor in the light itself. This unless noise reduction take it out.

Pixel peeping with anything less than full frame image usually results in seeing some grain. This is totally normal. Most lenses perform best at certain apertures, usually stopped down at least one stop. But it's a nice image of your pet turkey!

Re: Grainy images using NX300 with adapted Nikon 55-200mm lens

ISO 800 is going to be a bit grainy, 400 pretty good and 200 and 100 really good.

That's the problem with an unstabilized tele lens (or lack of in body stabilization). The 50-200 zoom from samsung would allow iso 200 easily for the same scene.

Re: Grainy images using NX300 with adapted Nikon 55-200mm lens

Thanks everyone for the feedback and tips! For some reason I can't get it to even go down to ISO 100 in manual mode, but even if I could the shot would be too dark with a high enough shutter speed to make it not blurry. I guess a tripod is my only hope for this lens then.

Thanks again

I got some good results by changing the ISO and EV bracketing settings. This picture was shot at 200mm using ISO 250 and 1/500.
