Dimage 7i firmware 1.11u - anyone still have it?

I know this is a stretch... but I have to ask. Last week I picked up a 7i for next to nothing. After some general cleanup, I tested it and it works fine. It has the original 1.00u firmware in it. I looked around and all I could find for updated firmware is the 1.11e version on KM Europe's website. So I tried updating with it but the camera won't take it.

Does anyone have the 1.11u version file that they could email to me?

I had a D7 for years and always like the lens.

I have 3 7i's now that are in perfect order and went thru this same search.

Since then i have bought the act-100 and acw-100 converters that came with the firmware update disc's.

The last firmware version for the 7i is on there in 3 versions to update to 1.20 (e,u and j)

there are 3 files that specify your area. The folder you want to use is the NAMERICA version.

Be glad to send them if you want.

I have updated all 3 of mine to this..............it added the 4th option in the menu to select Converter.

What does 1.20u offer over 1.11u ?

Other than it contains previous updates it also adds a 4th page in the menu to select "converter"..........what this does is allow you to lock the lens barrel at either end with the macro switch and the camera ignores that "macro" has been selected. Not really needed as the lens barrel on the 7i is not loose enough to move.

There was a (attempted rumor i believe) report that by installing version 1.20u that the MF was no longer functioning properly.

I stayed up a bit late last night putting my parts camera (has ugly CCD performance)back together to see if this was true as it has 1.10 still installed, and found that it and the 7i's with the new firmware operate exactly the same..............i am satisfied that the report was simply a rumor.

AF is fast and accurate.

It's worth it to update to 1.20 though as it does contain what 1.11 has.

I know this is not available on line, but those of us that have the software disc that comes with the converter (includes 1.20 for U,J & E) are willing to share.

My son has a new Canon 70D and was blown away at the photo i printed directly (all default settings and no PP) out of my 7i on a Canon pro-100 at 13x19. Detail is incredible which proves to me that all the Pixel Peeping i use to do was a total waste of time as what i see in prints far exceeds what i see on the puter screen.

I believe that Minolta was ahead of their time, but fell victim to the world of fast pace electronics that made the digital camera tech race a brutal environment.

So like you i now enjoy buying these and other Minolta cameras in excellent to new condition for a fraction of what they sold for.............

Even more amazing is the Macro ability.

I use one with the CL49-200 (sometimes 2 stacked) and also with the Hoya closeup lenses.

Unfortunaly the twin light system doesn't go for the low low price the cameras go for, but fun to use.

You can get it from here along with other stuff.  Worth adding to your bookmarks/favourites for future reference.

The E = Europe and the U = USA, so I don't see why it can't be installed and work correctly. After all, if Sony A900 owners in the EU downloaded firmware from the USA, it'll still install and work, so your reply to me seems most odd, but I'm you know better than anyone.

Mark you may be thinking of the A2 which uses the same firmware file for all regions, U, J & E work off the same file.

The 7i however only uses the firmware file that is for the designated region. U needs "U"....J needs "J" etc.

Sony A900 was a much later era in that firmware would be compatiable with all regions just like the Dimage A2 and A200.

the Dimage 7i simply won't recognize any firmware version that doesn't have the matching region designation letter at the end.

Hi Mike , I would appreciate a copy of that disc , I have both converters and the close up dioptre that I use mainly on my A2 and A200 .

I have a few DiMage 7i and D7's kicking about so would like to update it .

It would be good to have all three versions , U,J and E , can you put a copy in my Dropbox account ?
