G7X Interval Timer

I'm disappointed that the G7X does not appear to have a versatile interval timer for taking shots at a fixed interval. Some of the older Powershots, such as the G11, at least had a remote shutter input that could be hooked up to an external timer for this control.

Canon must have eliminated this input due to size constraints of the G7X. It's very frustrating that Canon could not have added such a simple piece of software to the camera for this simple function.

The Star Time-Lapse Movie could almost be made to work - but your interval would be restricted to 15, 30 or 60 seconds. And this mode results in a video, a sequence of 1920 x 1080 images, I assume (as opposed to full size images). Has anybody tried this Star Time-Lapse Movie mode for daylight scenes? Does the white balance need to be corrected to make this look right?

The Canon Hack Development Kit (CHDK) sounds like it could be helpful - but it sounds like it may be quite a while, if ever, before it becomes available for the G7X.

Any other thoughts on supporting time lapse photography with the G7X?

Re: G7X Interval Timer

There is a daytime time lapse video using Canon G7X on YouTube. Not sure how it was done. But the Star Trail video mode can be configured not to trail. The exposure is taken only from the first shot, so if the lights are pretty constant it may work in the daytime as well.
